    Chinese Zoo Makes Special Toothbrush for Hippos

    A zoo in Shanghai has built a special toothbrush which is as long as four rulers out

    together. This is to clean the large teeth of its hippopotamuses. Earlier the

    zookeepers used brooms to clean their teeth. The zoo puts on a public show three

    times a week. In this show, visitors can watch zookeepers brush the teeth of the

    three hippos.

    Pan, an officer at the zoo said, Wild hippos do not need to have their teeth

    cleaned as they eat grass. Grass usually does not get stuck in the gaps between

    their teeth. But, at the zoo we feed them with fruit and vegetables which can

    easily get into the gaps in their teeth.

    Now a zoo in London has also started using special long toothbrushes instead of

    brooms to clean the teeth of its pygmy hippos.
