DESCRIPTION
Clash of Cavalry" by Fairfax Downey was first published in 1959.This 238 page work is about the Civil War battle at Brandy Station, Virginia, June 9, 1863. I found it to be a difficult read. The language and style of the author is very flowery, and full of troops going “hither” and “swirls” of battle. However, if you can get past the romance novel style of writing, it seems to be a well researched book with a great many footnotes, well indexed and with a considerable set of appendixes.
