Children under the age ofve are often at highest risk.

DROWNING IS THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF ACCIDENTAL DEATH FOR CHILDREN UNDER FIVE, AND A LEADING CAUSE FOR CHILDREN AGES 1 - 14.

43 Texas children have already lost their lives to drowning in 2015

Do you wish your child was doing better in the classroom? Do you wish your child was excited about going to school in the mornings and looked forward to going back the next day? Do you long for the days of old when school populations were smaller and you knew your child’s friends and family? How about college? Do you know that your child possesses the skills necessary to succeed? Do you wish your child was playing the sport in high school they loved to play as a youngster? We all know there is a huge difference between playing and riding the pine. If you answered, YES, to any of these questions then Rosehill Christian School deserves a serious look.

Rosehill Christian School is a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools like many other schools in the area just like Cypress Christian School. It offers a small town environment where families enjoy each other’s company under the lights on Friday nights. It is a place of old where the administrators and teachers are much more than educators. They are friends. They know you and your child and they want them to succeed in every aspect of life.

We know this because we answered YES to every question above when our last child first entered high school. It was a daily struggle for the first half of the 9th grade. Then he transferred to Rosehill Christian

Rosehill Christian School Students Enjoy All Sorts of SuccessSchool in Tomball, TX. Rosehill Christian School quickly turned our frown upside down. Our son was succeeding academically, spiritually, athletically, and even socially. He thrived in a close knit community while his parents lived and worked in the big city. He was never lost in the shuffle of life. We wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

The best kept secret of Rosehill Christian School is the love the teachers have for each and every one of the students. Any child will be fully prepared to enter and be successful at any university they choose with friends like Mr. Marshall Priest, Mrs. Lauren Dyal, Mr. Steve Krantz and the rest of the RCS staff. That is all that anyone truly wants, right? They have all the right programs including connections with local colleges. Our son compiled enough dual credit hours to enter college full time as a sophomore. And to think, 9th grade started out to be such a struggle. He played varsity sports for four years. He really played for four years. Those memories will be irreplaceable not to mention the fact that he has an opportunity to play sports at the next level all the while enjoying the benefits of an academic scholarship. This is not an isolated case. Rosehill Christian School produces many student/athletes every year. Fine young ladies and gentlemen ready to take the world by storm. Thank you Rosehill.

Many communities are ripe targets for solicitors – for a variety of reasons. While the Association has no real control over soliciting activities, we have tried to discourage solicitors from marketing in our community by placing “no soliciting” signs in common areas. The reason that we cannot prevent soliciting is that the streets and roadways within the community are public access ways owned and maintained by the county. This means that no person or persons may be prevented from entering the community. Of course, if an individual or individuals are in the process of breaking the law, the Sheriff or other law enforcement officer can take immediate action. Your Association recommends the following actions that every owner can take to discourage unwelcome soliciting in the community:• Report all suspicious persons to the Sheriff’s Department

and request the deputies on duty be made aware of your concerns.

• Promptly remove all flyers left on your front or garage door.

• Promptly report to the Post Office all flyers left on the mailboxes.

• Refuse to make use of solicitors’ offers and refuse to patronize any company being marketed in this manner.

• Notify the managing agent of any companies presently soliciting so that letters can be sent advising them of this policy of not permitting door to door soliciting (they will be reminded of the community newsletter and/or the Green Sheet as marketing options).

• Individual homeowners have the ability to place a small “No Trespassing/No Soliciting” sign at the entry to their homes. Should a solicitor continue to leave flyers, the homeowner then has the authority to file charges against the Solicitor/Company for trespassing on private property.

Key Club International is a worldwide volunteer organization, with different types of clubs available to everyone- no matter their age. Most people know that Key Club is a volunteer organization run by High School students; volunteering in order to check off another thing on their way to applying for colleges. However, what most people don’t know is that Kiwanis (the organization that envelops Key Club) has clubs for Elementary School students, Middle School students, University students, working-class folk, and also people with disabilities.

Service is an integral part of every community, that way that individuals can be a part of something that helps the area visibly grow and develop. If everyone in the community is involved with service, then that betters community while also bettering the individuals who helped in the first place. Kiwanis helps to provide the opportunity of volunteering to people of every age and stage of life, while also providing opportunities to travel and to lead their respective organizations.

In Key Club, a club for teens, members are able to travel to many different areas in order to improve their abilities and methods to improve their communities. They can travel to Key Leader in the fall, where members can learn to grow more cohesively as a club and also learn better methods to serve. In the spring, members are able to travel to Dallas for DCON (District Convention) in order to learn how to better

Jordan Miller, Editor of Cypress Woods Key Club

“Caring- Our Way of Life”perform in their leadership positions and as volunteers.

Kiwanis has a level for every age group; with K-Kids for Grade-School children, which teaches kids at a young age how important service is and how great it can make others (and them) feel; Builder’s Club for Middle School students, which gives tweens the opportunity to see service at a higher level while also working with older possible role models from local High Schools; Key Club students in High School, which gives teens the ability to see visible change in their communities through the work of their club as a whole; Circle K for University students, in order to keep the service spirit for individuals who enjoy bettering the community around them; Kiwanis for adults, which helps members of the working class get involved with service as grown adults; and finally Aktion Club, which helps adults with disabilities to interact and serve the area around them.

Kiwanis has organizations present in 80 countries, with numerous communities being helped along with money being raised for other organizations like ELIMINATE, which helps to eliminate neonatal tetanus from women and babies from many countries all over the world. Service is something that Kiwanis helps everyone participate in, because volunteering isn’t just beneficial to the community; it’s beneficial to everyone involved.
