Dear Parents/ Carers,
ROCKETING AROUND THE SCHOOL WITH MR PITT
K CAMPBELL: Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of visiting KC during a STEM based lesson. The children were
making a pen for their farm animals. Each group was given materials to use to make a fence for their farm
animal. At the end of the lesson Mr Carbone put the fences we made around some of the animals. Thank you
KC, I had a great time.
PLAYGROUP: On Monday I visited Playgroup. During the visit the children and their mums were using matchbox cars to
make tyre patterns with paint. After this the children used playdoh to form letters of their name. We also had fun making
pretend cakes with our friends. I am proud that we can provide our community with a school-funded playgroup
coordinated by Miss Anita and Miss Iman.
SUPPORT: Last Thursday I visited Mr Kinniburgh during one of his numeracy lessons with students from 5/6L. The
lesson focus was fractions—with a focus on equivalent fractions. It was pleasing to see the children talking about their
work and not just giving the answer. Great work everyone!
END OF SEMESTER CELEBRATIONS
We have ended the term on a wonderful note with our K-2 and 3 –6 end of semester celebration
assemblies. Many children received awards for the huge effort that have put in over the last two
terms. We also had medallions and trophies for the Spelling Bee and Public Speaking. As always
both assemblies had performances by various groups—drama, Aboriginal Community of Schools
Dance Mob, Sparklers dance group and the whole school singing performance from everyone.
Another highlight of both assemblies was seeing many parents, carers and friends in attendance. I
know the children get excited when family and friends visit school at these times. I would also like
to thank the school executive team for coordinating the celebrations.
TERM 2 REVIEW
Some Term 2 highlights have included:
Enjoy the holidays. Be safe, stay active and have lots of fun. School resumes on Tuesday 23 July, 2019.

Take a break with Mrs Karam!
Each fortnight I visit a ‘break activity’ group.
Girls Basketball Team
Last week I visited the girls basketball team. They are a
group of passionate, talented and eager young ladies.
The girls were working on their shooting techniques
from close range and also from a far. The girls eagerly
showed off their skills and were keen to show me their
‘jump’ shots! I was very impressed. It was lovely to see
the girls working so well together as a team and
listening to their coach Mrs Lale. Well done girls keep
up the hard work and I look forward to hearing your
PSSA results each week.
Junior and Senior Cricket Team
Last week I visited the junior and senior cricket team. I
really enjoyed visiting the teams as cricket is one of my
favourite sports! I was so impressed by how much the
students have learnt about the game in such a short
space of time. Miss Yousif was helping students with
their batting in the cricket nets and Mr Misitano was
working on catching skills on the grass. I enjoyed
throwing some high balls to the students and they did
so well catching the balls and quickly throwing them at
the stumps. I am looking forward to hearing about
your PSSA results each week. Well done!
THANK YOU!
A huge thank you to Mrs Kirsty Tannous for creating masterpieces in our student toilets!
She has painted inspirational messages and designs on the toilet doors. They look amazing

As parents, homework can be a little overwhelming,
especially seeing how techniques have changed since
going to school yourself. OSHClub hosts HOMEWORK
CLUB, where your children can get support and help
with the difficult questions, see some of their friends
outside of school and also get to fill their bellies with
some Healthy Afternoon Tea. If you have any
questions, please come by the Hall and talk to the
friendly OSHClub staff.

Over the last fortnight we have been exploring some really
colourful and fun experiences that have allowed us to look
into a variety of different shades and colours that are in the
world. We made some beautiful flowers out of celery, where
we mixed together different colours to make our very own
colour. We also created our very own Rainbow fruit
popsicles, where we made different colours out of all our
favourite fruit then got too eat it! SO YUMMY
Healthy body, body healthy mind! A couple of the children
had a homework activity where they had to participate in
some Yoga, which all the children wants to be apart of too!
We did the downward dog, twinkle figures and lots of
stretching! We cleared our mind and relaxed before going
back to focus on our homework! It really worked to help us
relax!
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the National
Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD). The NCCD process requires
schools to identify information already available in the school
about supports provided to students with disability. These relate
to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act
1992 and the Disability Standards of Education 2005, in line with
the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian
Government for the NCCD include:
year of schooling
category of disability: physical, sensory or social/
emotional
level of adjustment provided: support provided within
quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary,
substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided
to students with disability in schools
consider how they can strengthen the support of students
with disability in schools
develop shared practices so that they can review their
learning programs in order to improve educational
outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the
information they need to plan more broadly for the support of
students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child
will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide
data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual
student will be able to be identified—the privacy and confidently
of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy
laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of
personal information.
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the https://
www.nccd.edu.au
If you have any questions about the NCCD, please contact the
school.
