LENT HOLY WEEK EASTER THANK YOU

The 40 day Lenten journey was a blessing; a helpful time of reflection and a joyous celebration of Jesus resurrection.

Thank you to the many people who helped to make these worship services a time for experiencing a living faith in the midst of a welcoming community. We are blessed with so many talented musicians who dedicate their time and talent to enhance and lead us in worship and Beth who works so creatively and collaboratively to bring all the pieces together and make the services flow. We are blessed as God speaks to us through music, thank you musicians. Thank you Roger and choirs.

Thank you also to the folks who volunteer to read, usher and prepare the space for worship. With the varied and special worship services during Lent and Holy Week, there were many additional tasks to be done; thank you to each one of you who stepped up and served our Lord, you are a blessing.

We also enjoyed wonderful fellowship at the Soup suppers, thanks to the cooks, those who set up and cleaned up, those who moved chairs each evening, those who made sandwiches and sliced cheese, those who washed dishes and those who brought desserts. Our bodies and our spirits were refreshed with this time of fellowship.

We are blessed! Thank you and thanks be to God. Alleluia, Christ is Risen!

God's Peace, Pastor Gisele

FLY News and Upcoming Events Check out the Faith Lutheran Church FaceBook page for pictures from many of our meetings and events. Also check out our FaithBook “wall” by the youth table for pictures and also postings of FLY in the News In March At our First Wednesday Meeting night we went to see the new movie Risen and held a discussion about the film back at church. At our Second Wednesday Meeting night we had a discussion about friendship and enjoyed some time playing a game. March was Cinnamon Bun Sunday and FLY worked together on a Saturday evening preparing the buns for sale. Our thanks to Theresa Hanson for baking/coordinating this event for us. We raised $600 toward Mission Trip 2016 and FLY is grateful to everyone who pre-ordered or made an offering for buns that Sunday.

The Psalm Tree At our February Youth Service, we debut the FLY Psalm Tree which is now located in the Narthex. Each leaf is the first verse of one Psalm between Psalm 1 and Psalm 91.

Take a Psalm leaf home with you and meditate on this verse. Then fill the leaf with an offering (suggestion is to match the number of the Psalm) and return it during the Sunday offering. These funds will go directly to help cover the cost of 24 youth and adults to travel to Kansas City in July for Mission Trip 2016. If you put cash in the envelope, please note your name on the outside of the envelope or within if you want to have this donation on your annual giving statement. Checks can be made out to Faith Lutheran Youth. The Psalm Tree will remain through Confirmation Sunday.

Coming Soon April 6 – First Wednesday FLY Meeting/Service Project We will be helping prepare, serve and clean up the Fellowship Meal at St. Vincent DePaul. The youth who helped with this meal in December found their participation to be meaningful and worthwhile. Meeting at St. Vincent DePaul beginning at 3:30 to 6:30.

April 15 – Feed My Starving Children MobilePack – Service Project We have 11 youth slots on Friday, April 15 from 6:30-8:30 PM to learn about hunger related issues, pray for those in need and pack meals for hungry children.

April 20 – Third Wednesday FLY Meeting We will be meeting at 6:00 that evening in the Faith Lutheran kitchen to build and bake our own pizzas and then work on planning for the upcoming FLY Lock In on April 29 and the Youth Service on May 8

April 29-30 – Third Annual FLY LockIn Youth in Grades 7-12 are invited to spend the night at Faith Lutheran Church. Youth are welcome to bring a friend. Empty Bowls Raised $15,000 for Soup or Socks!

WHEN is the last time you had to haul water

more than a few feet? As we learned from

Reverend Sutherland, assistant to the Bishop, girls

in Malawi often don't have time to go to school.

They have to haul all their family's water, as

much as ten miles a day! In addition, a

prolonged famine is ravaging their country.

THINK how much a water well could improve their lives....

It costs $11,500 to dig a well for a village in Malawi. Will you help

our congregation purchase a well for our brothers and sisters in

Malawi, and reduce their suffering?

Please put your donation in a blue envelope and label it

MALAWI WATER. God has blessed us with clean, accessible

water. Let's pass it on!

MONEY POLICY All monies contributed to the church for general offerings, freewill offerings, money gathering events, Endowment, Memorial, youth, church women, Sunday School, Fair Trade, coffee hour and anonymous donors must go to the money counters. From there the money counters will deposit it into the checking account that it is meant for. The amounts will be given to the financial secretary to record in the weekly giving documents.

Thank you to those members that have selected Faith as their preferred charity on their Charitable Giving Money Market Account at Forward Financial Bank. We received $1.056.47

The 4th Annual Faith Fire Benefit Concert is coming up on Friday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. Faith Fire and the Voices of Praise Choir will be sharing music to praise God, inspire our hearts to serve others, and feel the love of Christ through the gift of music. The concert is a wonderful time of fellowship and community outreach. All are welcome at the concert! Please share this invitation with your friends and family! This year we are raising money for the Frederic Ozanam Transitional Shelter in Marshfield. The mission of the family shelter is "to provide emergency transitional housing for homeless families. Our primary focus is to move families from homelessness to self-sufficiency by reducing their dependence on public assistance, improving their living skills, and securing permanent housing." In addition to providing housing to couples or families with children, the Frederic Ozanam Transitional Shelter helps families with education, finding employment, saving money, health care, and other basic needs. We will have a freewill offering at the end of the concert. All funds raised will go directly to the Frederic Ozanam Transitional Shelter. There will be a silent auction starting at 6:15 p.m. and closing after the concert. A time for treats and fellowship will follow the concert as well. We hope you can join us!

Will you help? Thank you to the people that have volunteered to serve

on our altar teams. We are in need of a few more

volunteers.

These are the months and number of people needed:

April 1, June 1, Oct 3, and Dec 1.

No experience needed, on the job

training and open to women, men and

older youth. A sign-up sheet is the

Narthex.

THANK YOU to all that care for our church home, inside and out. As spring comes into view we think of all of the things that we need to do to get our house and yard in tip top condition. This is true of our church home and yard also.

Thank you to those who paint, fix, give money, clean, rake, plant, weed and all of the things we do together to keep Faith looking cared for.

Thank you Property Team for keeping us on track. These are the people that address our problems before and after they appear. Did you notice that the back pew now allows space for wheelchairs? Idea from worship and Music, Property made is happen. If you see something that needs doing or you would like to help with, let Property know. Karen Bohm is council rep.

Thank you Harry & Lisa Wallis our custodians. Again a big THANK YOU for all that you do for your

church home here at Faith.

Looking for Youth Musicians! On May 8, we'll be having another Youth Sunday at both the 8:00 and 10:30 services. We would like to include music from our youth musicians at Faith Lutheran Church as prelude or special music. If you are interested in sharing a song, please contact Beth Behnke-Seper at 715-207-8892. Thank you!
