The Gibson Foundation provides a grant to support our Summer Guitar Project at the Fresh Air Fund Camps

Thanks to a grant from the Gibson Founda-tion, talented songwriters and musicians traveled to the Fresh Air Fund camps in Fishkill, New York to teach music to over 400 children using Gibson-donated Pro-1 Classic guitars

For many campers, this was their rst oppor-tunity to work with a music teacher, learn to play

an instrument and create songs. “Playing guitar for the rst time was one of my favorite experiences at camp,” said William, 14. “I’m going to gure out a way to continue after I go home.”

The program was recently featured in the New York Times where guest artist, Natalie Merchant, spoke of her camp visit. “Music worked its magic again,” said Merchant. “I told the girls that this was their inheritance, these songs were their gift to give to their own children.” Musician and producer, Ar-den Altino, also visited the camp discussing his ca-reer and working with the kids to create an original song.

The Summer Guitar Project is made possible by the Gibson Foundation and The ASCAP Foun-dation Irving Caesar Fund. Thanks to D’Addario for guitar strings and picks.
