FALL 2016 Semester Dates Tuesday, September 6 – Friday, December 23

We did it! It took two years of planning for one week in August when 1600 teen athletes and artists had the time of their lives, thanks to the incredible work of dozens of community leaders, 500 volunteers, 400 host families, and our talented JCC staff! As one of the highlights of our Centennial year, the Stamford 2016 JCC Maccabi Games

and ArtsFest will go down as a major event JCC history. I’d like to extend my personal gratitude to our Maccabi and Centennial leadership team, committee members, volunteers, host families, sponsors and community partners. JCC Maccabi is a community undertaking in the truest sense of the word. And it took more than a village for this job! Mayor David Martin and the City of Stamford were the best partners we could have hoped for, and we thank them for making it all possible. And our Centennial celebration continues! As you may know, we are in the midst of a capital campaign to raise funds for much-needed repairs and upgrades for our 35-year-old building. Some of the money already raised through the Centennial Campaign has been used to fund the JCC Maccabi Games and ArtsFest, and in the coming weeks we will reach out to you, our members and friends, to help us add to the campaign total by raising $100,00 in 100 days. Our overall goal is to raise a total of $5 million, and in order to succeed we’ll need 100% of you to help in any way you can to invest in the future of our JCC. Our JCC is the core of the Stamford Jewish community; a hub where people of all backgrounds and faiths are welcome, and a place for people of all ages to thrive and grow. We’re delighted to have you join us, and want you to feel that you are part of a caring community where you always feel safe, comfortable and welcome.

B’Shalom,

Eric H. Koehler Chief Executive Officer

We meet on and off JCC premises to participate in activities together such as cooking, seeing theater performances, varied sports events, pool parties, volunteering, and much more, which are not only fun but also reinforces team-building. The social groups provide youths with a structured and safe environment to develop their social skills and build relationships. The goal of R&R is learning to work together! For dates and prices, please contact Jane Faherty at 203.487.0980 or [email protected].

ARTWORKS: By Arts for Healing Enjoy the benefits of creating art! ArtWorks takes place in a small group setting and is designed to help artists of various ages and abilities express themselves through art. The class also helps to improve communication skills (expressive and receptive), social interaction, enhance motor function, stimulate emotional development, and foster self-expression. Materials including paint, clay, collage, drawing pens, markers, pastels, and charcoal give group members a wide variety of choices for personal expression. The group leader is a professional artist and art therapist who brings original and unique ideas to encourage individual creative expression. For dates and prices, please contact Jane Faherty at 203.487.0980 or jfaherty@ stamfordjcc.org.

Music, Movement and Yoga This practice is fun and interactive! Through meditation, movement, and chants instructors provide techniques to work on improving concentration, mindfulness, self-control, and relieving anxiety, as well as improving hand-eye coordination and thoughtful breath. Classes are kept small in order to modify and accommodate any individual needs. For dates and prices, please contact Jane Faherty at 203.487.0980 or jfaherty@ stamfordjcc.org.
