About our Programs: For over twenty years Artists for Kids has proudly offered After School Art Programs to students from the North Shore and the lower mainland. Our Programs continue to run each Fall, Winter, and Spring at various schools across the North Shore. AFK’s After School Art Programs are taught by art specialist teachers. All art supplies and materials are included in the course fee. A student exhibition is held in the Gordon Smith Gallery at the end of each term. All AFK programs provide students with opportunities to further their artistic ability and to foster positive attitudes towards the visual arts. It’s Primarily Painting, but students will be introduced to other mediums such as printmaking and drawing that increase the artmaking fun.

Make your own bling! Students will learn how to work various metals to craft pieces such as rings, earrings, bracelets and pendants.

Art for Small HandsGrades K-1 with instructor Colette Doan

Students will experiment with drawing and painting processes. Through fun art projects, they will be introduced to the elements and principles of art.

WoodworkingGrades 5-7 with instructor Bob Miraftab

Students will be introduced to the magic of working with wood in this dynamic workshop. Over the eight weeks, your child will be taught safe work habits while building cool projects.

Adventures in DrawingGrades 4-7 with instructor Veis Dokhani

Students will create exciting works of art using a variety of drawing tools and processes while exploring the work of prominent artists.

Join us for an exciting exploration of a variety of art mediums that will include drawing materials, paint, collage and printmaking.

Students will use many techniques to create decorative or functional ceramic-ware. Every session brings new projects, so enroll again to learn more.

Students will learn camera care, composition guidelines including rule of thirds, viewpoint, balance and depth. There will be an introduction to shutter speed, aperture and some basic editing techniques.

Zentangle: Pattern PlayGrades 4-7 with instructor Natasha Dash

Zentangle is easy to learn, calming, and a fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Students will develop their creativity and artistic skills while playing with tangles in various mediums.

The Art of ArchitectureGrades 4-7 with instructor Nathalie Defosses

This program explores the built environment. Working with a teacher and architects from RAIC, students explore architecture through art and design games.
