Iam writing from Downeast Maine where I amon vacation with my family. I saw a post onFacebook earlier in the day showing our new

sign at Courcelle. It is amazing how one sign can sopowerfully represent support from the community, permanency and optimism for the future.

I’d like to take this opportunity for a goodbye anda welcome. Robyn Schmitt started in December asour administrative assistant on a part-time basis. Wehad been using a “band aid” solution in this positionsince April 2013 when Mary Markowski was recruitedaway to the assistant city treasurer position. Robynswept in and in no short order had us on track andmoving forward. I am indebted to her for helpingme in my role as Superintendent and getting us todo everything right through many new policies andprocedures. We wish her the best in her new positionas Development Director for the Rutland CountyParent Child Center.

Now I’d like to welcome Nicole Densmore who isour new Program Director. We shuffled programresponsibilities after my promotion and decided tohave one person oversee all our youth sports thatare run in leagues or are multi week instructionalprograms. We needed an outgoing person who waspassionate about sports to fill those shoes. We gotall that and more with Nicole. Nicole is a graduateof MSJ and received her BA at Castleton majoring inSports Administration and MA in education at CSJ.She has enjoyed getting to know our young familiesthrough t-ball and Mitey mites this summer and islooking forward to soccer and football in the fall.Welcome Nicole and thanks for joining our team!

Our major fall project is the construction at RotaryPark. The end product will be a larger playing fieldand a more pleasant environment for the users of thepark. Thank you to Otter Creek Engineering for theirwork and to EJay Bishop who started the ball rollingseveral years ago with the new tennis courts andplayground.

I hope you enjoy the last few weeks of summer andthat the warm 70 degree weather extends well intothe fall. Remember to take time and GO PLAY!
