On Friday, October 3rd at 6pm Fall Festival XLII will kick-off with a concert headlined by the online battle of the bands winner

Bantum Rooster. The concert which is taking the place of the parade marks the beginning of a new tradition for the commencement of Asheboro's Fall Festival. The event is free and the public is encouraged to come out and celebrate the start of the 2014 Fall Festival.

FALL FESTIVAL KICK-OFF CONCERT FEATURING BANTUM ROOSTER

Page 9: Fall Festival Special Event Program

asheboromagazine.com 9

During the month of August the Randolph Arts Guild, the organization that coordinates the Fall Festival, held an online “Battle of the Bands” contest. The competition was open to any band with a connection to Randolph County and offered the public the opportunity to vote for the band they would want to see play during the Fall Festival kick-off concert. All the bands that entered the competition exemplifi ed the level of talented musicians in the community. In the end it was a close battle between Brooke McBride and Bantum Rooster

with Bantum Rooster taking the lead in the last days voting.

For nearly a decade, Bantum Rooster has been playing music providing entertainment in Randolph County. Voted the number one band in Randolph County in 2013, the band plays a blend of classic rock and oldies, beach, funk and dance grooves, country, soul, and currents hits! Excellent showmanship, tight vocal harmonies, a hot rhythm section and a sensational horn line create an unstoppable show that will leaves the audience wanting more. They are excited to be headlining the concert. According to band member Shane Morgan, “We just want to say thanks to every single person that voted for Bantum Rooster. We are going to be coming at you with a whole new set of music and bringing back our full horn line, the free-range horns! We look forward to seeing everyone there Friday Night October 3rd!! Its gonna be a rocking good time!”

The festivities will begin Friday October 3rd at 6pm with acknowledgement of the Fall Festival Queens. Battle of the Bands Runner-Up Brooke McBride will take the stage at 6:30pm and then Bantum Rooster will take the stage at 7:30pm. The Kick-Off Concert and Fall Festival are sponsored by, Wells Fargo, Triad Heating & Cooling, Randolph Telephone, Able Custom Signs, Fairfi eld Inn and the Hampton Inn. For more information about the concert call the Randolph Arts Guild at 336-629-0399.
