Explanation of Enrollment Data

1. The Fall Final date is January 6, 2014. Data included in this report is information captured from the Banner

Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).

2. Percent Change in this report is the measure of change from Fall Final 2012 to Fall Final 2013 as a percentage. Caution: When considering % change it is important to note that increases or decreases in categories with low numbers will result in a high percentage change.

3. Due to rounding, some graphs may not total 100%.

4. Urban Education students are included in Main Campus. 5. Colorado School of Public Health students are not included in this summary. 6. Funding Summary:

a. Headcount: Students counted in Extended Campus have only cash funded courses

b. Credit Hours: Main Campus and Extended Campus credit hours are determined by the accounting code assigned to the course.

7. Undergraduate definition of Part-Time and Full-Time students: a. Part‐Time: students enrolled for fewer than 12 credit hours b. Full‐Time: students enrolled for 12 or more credit hours

8. Graduate definition of Part-Time and Full-Time students: a. Part‐Time: students enrolled for fewer than 9 credit hours b. Full‐Time: students enrolled for 9 or more credit hours

12. Low Income is defined as a student who is Pell Grant eligible. Statistics in this report reflect those students who were offered a Pell Grant greater than zero.

13. The Graduate Unclassified classification is students who are attending but have not yet been accepted into a Master’s or Doctorate program or non-degree seeking students.

14. Non-degree seeking graduate students are included in the Graduate School enrollment. 15. High School Undergraduates are enrolled students who are age 18 or younger and have not graduated high

school or earned a GED. 16. New First-time students are not high school undergraduates nor are they Study Abroad, zero credit

hour students. New First-Time students are defined as those students who are enrolled in fall and their first term was either the current fall term or the immediate prior term (summer).

17. New Transfer Students are undergraduate students who are enrolled in fall and their first term is either the current term (fall) or the immediate prior term (summer) at the undergraduate level and has earned college credit at another institution.

18. Freshmen classification are undergraduate students with 0-29 credits; Sophomore classification includes students with 30-59 credits; Juniors have 60-89 credits and Seniors have 90 or more credits until completion of a bachelor’s degree.

Executive Summary

Headcount by Classification (Page 6)

The total university Fall Final 2013 headcount of 12,710 is down by 360 students which is a 2.8% decrease from Fall Final 2012.

Undergraduate headcount decreased 371 students or 3.6%from Fall Final 2012 while graduate student headcount increased 11 students or 0.4%.

Freshmen classification is 27.5% of the undergraduate population compared to 29.5% at Fall Final 2012.

Doctoral headcount increased by 14 students or 2.4%.

Masters students represent 52.2% of those at the graduate level. Credit Hours by Classification (Page 7)

The student credit hour grand total is 150,241 a 3.7% decrease from Fall Final 2012.

84.8% of the total student credit hours are resident; 86.9% of undergraduate credit hours are resident and 69.9% of graduate credit hours are resident.

Undergraduate headcount (see Table Headcount by Classification) decreased 3.6% generating a reduction in credit hours of 4.3%.

Graduate headcount increased 0.4% yielding 247 more credit hours than Fall Final 2012 or a 1.4% change.

Doctoral headcount went up 2.4% and generated an increase of 4.2% or 176 credit hours. Funding Summary Headcount (Page 8)

Main campus headcount is 85.1% of the total.

Undergraduate main campus WUE headcount increased 14.9% or 72 students.

Undergraduate headcount for students registering exclusively in extended campus courses increased by 5.1% or 29 students and main campus undergraduate headcount dipped 4.1% or 400 students.

Graduate main campus headcount decreased 2.4% from Fall Final 2012 and extended campus increased 3.8%.

Funding Summary Credit Hours (Page 9)

Main campus credit hours totaling 138,206 are 92% of the total 150,241 the percentage in Fall Final 2012 was 93% of the total credits.

The undergraduate main campus credit hours differ 4.7% from Fall Final 2012.

Fall Final 2013 undergraduate extended studies credit hours increased 7.1% compared to Fall Final 2012.

Graduate extended studies hours increased 330 hours or 4.8% over Fall Final 2012.

The total extended campus credit hours increased by 645 credit hours, a 5.7% increase over Fall Final 2012.

Course Load Summary (Page 10)

The percentage of undergraduate students that are part-time remained the same at 12% compared to Fall Final 2012. Graduate full-time students decreased by 1% comared to Fall Final 2012.

Undergraduate Enrollment by Ethnicity (Page 13)

Approximately 25.1% of the undergraduate population is minority this is an increase over Fall Final 2012 which was 23%.

Within the minority category, the Hispanic classification is the largest and represents 16.1% of the entire undergraduate population. The Hispanic classification was 14.7% of the total undergraduate population at Fall Final 2012.

White students are 58% of the undergraduate population compared to 60.0% in Fall Final 2012 which is a decrease of 423 students.

Graduate Enrollment by Ethnicity (Page 14)

Hispanic graduate students represent 6.4% of the total graduate population increasing by 18 students compared to Fall Final 2012. Non US Citizen students represent 7.2% of the graduate population.

Undergraduate First Generation & Undergraduate Low Income (Page 15)

Low income is defined as those students who are Pell Grant Eligible.

35% of the undergraduates are first generation students which is unchanged from Fall Final 2012.

32.2% of the undergraduate students are low income; this is a 0.8% decrease when compared to 33.0% in Fall Final 2012.

Approximately 39 % of all undergraduate students are non-first generation, non-low income students consistent with 39% at Fall Final 2012.

New Student Enrollment (Page 17)

New first-time undergraduate degree seeking students decreased 10.0% or 221 students compared to Fall Final 2012.

New undergraduate degree seeking transfer students decreased 86 or 9.7% students compared to Fall Final 2012.

Undergraduate degree seeking continuing students decreased 101 students or 1.5% compared to Fall Final 2012.

New degree seeking first-time and continuing graduate students are down .04% and 0.1% respectively.

Non-degree seeking continuing graduate headcount is up 42 students or 21.4%. Students Enrolled in (at least one) Distance/Online Course (Page 18)

The number of students enrolling in a least one distance/on-line course decreased over Fall Final 2012.

The percentage of undergraduate students enrolling in (at least) one online course changed from 21% in Fall Final 2012 to 19% in Fall Final 2013.

The percentage of graduate students enrolling in (at least) one online course decreased from 36% of the graduate population to 34%.

Students enrolled by Gender (Page 19)

The percentage of undergraduate females increased slightly from Fall Final 2012 at 62%.

The percentage of graduate males increased 2%; 27% in Fall Final 2013 compared to 25% in Fall Final 2012.

College Headcount (Page 21)

Generally, the distribution of enrollment among the colleges remains stable.

The College of Natural & Health Sciences (NHS) undergraduate headcount is down 1.9% from Fall Final 2012 and represents 31% of the undergraduate total headcount of 9,947. NHS graduate headcount is up 2.4% or 14 students over Fall Final 2012.

College of Education & Behavioral Sciences (EBS) undergraduate headcount decreased 92 students from Fall Final 2012. EBS graduate student headcount increased 18 students or 1.3% from Fall Final 2012.

The College of Performing & Visual Arts (CPVA) undergraduate and graduate student headcount decreased 26 students (24 undergraduate students and 2 graduate students).

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) undergraduate headcount decreased 111 students or 5.4%. Graduate headcount increased by 0.9%.

Monfort College of Business (MCB) undergraduate headcount increased 5.5% or 50 students.

College Credit Hours (Page 22)

Undergraduate credit hours are up in MCB 5.87%. While credits hours are down in all other colleges.

Graduate credit hours are up in HSS (1.84%), NHS (2.31%) and EBS (3.55%). Age Summary (Page 23)

13 percent of undergraduate students are age 25 or older.

17.5% of graduate students are 45 years old or older.
