MANSFIELD CHRISTIAN SECONDARY “From the Principal’s Desk”
We have had a beautiful fall so far and the weather
forecast this week is for more of the same incredible
weather. It’s hard to believe that the first quarter of
school has completed and I wanted to take this
opportunity to thank all of you for all of the
kindnesses I have received as I transition into the
Secondary Principal position at Mansfield Christian
School. Everyone at the school has been extremely
helpful and patient to answer all of my questions.
We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated staff
to work with your kids every day. They all work
tirelessly to provide a quality education to each and
every student here.

ACADEMIC CHALLENGE
Mansfield Christian’s Academic Challenge team
hosted a match competing with Galion, Ontario, and
Hillsdale schools. The teams answered questions
ranging from Biology to the Kings of England to the
Rivers of Russia. Our varsity team took first place
and the JV team came in third place at our site.
Eighteen schools from the area are competing in this
year’s fall league. Two weeks ago the fall tournament
with eighteen schools gave us a second in our varsity
bracket and sixth overall. . Visitors are welcome to
quietly watch (hold your cheers) each contest. The
next competitions will take place Nov 2 and Nov 16.

JAPANESE STUDENTS VISIT MCS A large “Welcome” sign in English and
Japanese gave a friendly welcome to 23 Japanese middle school students and five chaperones on Thursday, October 8, 2015. Mansfield Christian 8th
graders were on hand to assist them to Mrs. Vrooman’s room where a question and answer time began to close the gap between them. Interpreters volleyed questions about such topics as government, hobbies, sports, and Sponge Bob. We found out that Sponge Bob does speak Japanese. After the class period ended, the Japanese students were divided into two groups. One group went to Mrs. Stahlke’s class for an art exchange while the other group headed out to our beautiful woods for a science lab With Mrs. Vrooman’s class. The gap continued to narrow as students measured the circumferences of several trees and examined Ohio wildflowers. The next class period brought all the Japanese students together with Mrs. Draper and Mrs. Vrooman’s classes to play volleyball in a circle in the backyard and soccer beyond the parking lot. By the end of that session the gap was gone as laughter and smiles ended with the exchange of emails and group pictures. As our time together was coming

to an end, Mrs. Eder and Mrs. Trueblood gave each child a collection of MCS gifts. The Japanese arranged a ceremony to present a gift to Dr. Smith who graciously thanked them and reminded them that world peace will be possible one person at a time as they develop a right relationship with Jesus. Now the only gap we face is the time that must
pass before we welcome more Japanese students back next year.

MCS Supports Cancer Awareness Month
From colorful science experiments to artistically decorated cakes, our 7th grade Bible students did a stellar
job presenting the Romans Road through their recent projects, with each project as unique as the individual!
As we studied the gospel path’s progression through five verses in the book of Romans, the students’
excitement grew as they contemplated ways to creatively display their newfound understanding of
Scripture. Some chose to present the Romans Road through PowerPoint presentations, videos, handmade
books, tracts, posters, paintings, drawings, cupcakes, and experiments; all chose to present truth in a
meaningful and relevant way to aid their understanding and enable them to confidently share their faith
with their friends and family. Great job, 7th grade students! Soli Deo Gloria!
