The 2015 Hometown Hero honorees will be inducted into the Hometown Heroes Hall of Fame during the Gala, which will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2015. The “Fire & Ice” themed event, presented by Anadarko, will be held at The Woodlands Waterway Marrio Hotel & Conven- on Center beginning at 6:00 pm. There will also be a luncheon honoring the Hometown Heroes on Friday, October 2nd at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center. Thank you for your support! A Client’s Story Teresa* came to Interfaith as a walk in. She had moved to our community to escape a bad situaon. She had two jobs in The Woodlands, but no place to live. She had been staying in shelters around the area, in her car and an occasional motel room. She was in the process of looking for an apartment, had some money for a down payment, but that was slowly dimin- ishing because of the cost of a motel. Interfaith provided her with food, a gas card, clothing vouchers and low cost apart- ment referrals. Teresa was very appreciave of all the help Interfaith provided. She and her children are now back together as a family, and thankful to be safe and employed, with food and a home. * The name was changed for privacy purposes Interfaith Announces New Leadership Interfaith of The Woodlands is pleased to announce that Lisa Baeckel has been promoted to Development Manager and Shannon Mills has been promoted to Communicaons & Publi- caons Manager. Each brings more than 30 years of combined non-profit experience. “Lisa and Shannon are both assets to Interfaith, and I know they will effecvely lead both depart- ments at Interfaith. They will be excellent in their new roles,” shared Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands. More than 2,000 Area Students are Ready to go Back to School Thanks to YOUR Generosity! Interfaith is proud to provide local students in need with school supplies and essenals. Each stu- dent parcipang in the Kits4Kidz program receives school and grade specific school supplies, a new backpack and a voucher to Interfaith’s Hand Me Up Shop where they can select an ouit to wear on the first day of school. This year marks the 31st year that Interfaith has been providing school supplies to area students, and the impact is far reaching. Students from 34 local schools receive school supplies from Interfaith’s Kits4Kidz Program, impacng approximately 6% of elementary students and 4% of students overall in the Conroe Independent School District. Interfaith will also distribute backpacks and miscellaneous supplies to other qualified children and youth in the area. Kacie C. a mom of three who has used the Kits4Kidz program for the past two years shared, “We are scraping by, and I had to choose between geng my children school supplies or making sure they had food to eat. Without this program, my children would go back to school with not even so much as a pencil. I am so grateful to Interfaith.” Interfaith Child Development Center Prepares for Another Outstanding School Year The 2015-2016 school year will begin on August 24th for the Full Day Program and August 31st for the Mother’s Day Out, Paral Day, and School Day Programs. ICDC is excited to begin a new school year and we look forward to watching the children grow, discover, and develop a love of learning. Celebrang ICDC’s 39th Birthday in September will bring many fun acvies. October brings a visit with firefighters, individual and class pictures, a pumpkin patch, and a parade of costumes. This fall will be filled with wonderful opportunies for children to learn and grow! Tours of the school are conducted on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30, and on Wednesday aſternoons from 1:00 – 2:30. Visit www.interfaithkids.org or stop by and see for yourself what makes ICDC so very special! Taylor Halsey, a student at The Woodlands College Park High School, started Babysing 4 Backpacks in 2014. School has been important to her and she loves to babysit, so she decided to combine the two and donate funds and supplies to Interfaith of The Woodlands’ Kits4Kidz program. Taylor said, “I couldn’t imagine going to school without school supplies and a backpack and hope my efforts will impact the students in our community.” She plans to connue the program and has started adding friends as well. Even her brother, Brooks, decided to pet sit and donate his money to Babysing 4 Backpacks. Several of Interfaith’s All Star volunteers gathered this summer to support the Serving Our Neighbor, S.O.N. program, by doing yard work. “I enjoy volunteering because it gives me the opportunity to serve and impact others in our community,” said Paul Verre, a 16 year old Junior at Esprit Internaonal School. “I don’t know what The Wood- lands would do without Inter- faith. All of you are beauful people that make it happen!
