Parshall, ND is a city within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation. It is located on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in Mountrail County, ND.

The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation (MHA Nation), also known as the Three Affiliated Tribes, is a Native American National resulting from the alliance of the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara peoples, whose native lands ranged across the Missouri River basin extending from present day North Dakota Through western Montana and Wyoming. After the signing of the Fort Laramie Treaty and subsequent taking of land, the Nation’s land base is currently approximately 1 million acres located Fort Berthold Reservation in northwestern North Dakota. The Tribe reported a total enrollment of 16,085 registered tribe members in July 2018. Nearly 5,200 live on the reservation; others live and work elsewhere.

Parshall is arguably best known for its namesake Parshall Oil Field that surrounds the town. The 2006 discovery of the Parshall Field started the North Dakota oil boom. The Parshall Oil Field is an oil field producing from the Bakken Formation and Three Forks Formation. Parshall’s break-even price is at US$38/barrel, which is the lowest on the Bakken Formation; overall, Bakken’s break-even point is of US$62/barrel.

Family Dollar is an American discount store chain with over 8,185 locations throughout 46 states. It is the second largest retailer of its type in the US. Family Dollar was founded in 1959 by Leon Levine.

Family Dollar offers a compelling assortment of merchandise for the whole family ranging from household cleaners to name brand foods, from health and beauty aids to toys, from apparel for every age to home fashions, all for everyday low prices.
