History of Fantasy Sports• Began in 1980 at a New York City Restaurant called “La Rotisserie Française”

• League members took turns picking players from the MLB to compete for there own “fantasy team”, they then compiled a list of stat categories that the players would accumulate over the course of the year. For example, homeruns.

• Over the course of the year they would record the stats and determine whoever’s team had the best numbers over the course of the year would be crowned champion.

• A book was published in 1984 about the fantasy league and the idea of managing your own team caught on.

• By the year 2000 with the creation of the internet collecting stats, news and information became easier which ultimately lead to the 4 billion dollar industry we have today.
