    4. I do other physical activity am I rewarded for these? - Yes, you get rewarded for movement whether it is playing most sports (e.g. tennis, golf, cricket, squash, hockey, badminton, football) or even dancing! morning. 10. Why cant I see the numbers on the screen all the time? - To save the battery, the pedometer goes to sleep. It will show the numbers

upon detection of any movement. 11. My BUDD-E pedometer is clocking up added steps during travelling, what

    should I do?

  • - Your Stepathlon BUDD-E uses 3D accelerometer technology. A 3D accelerometer captures movement and is the same motion sensing technology you find in smartphones. It picks up sudden acceleration, so it will give you a few steps while you are in a motor vehicle/train/bus (especially on a bumpy road). To tackle this problem, this year we have introduced the PAUSE function. Use this when travelling in any vehicle and dont forget to take it off the PAUSE function thereafter.

    12. How do I use the pause function? - You can press the button next to the screen. - Once the pedometer flashes PAUSE on the screen, press the button again to confirm. - To de-activate the PAUSE function, press the button next to the screen to activate the display on the screen. Once the display is active, press the button again to de-activate the PAUSE function.

    13. How do I change my BUDD-E pedometer battery? - Using a coin, twist the slot towards the left, as per the indication marks and open the cover. - Make sure the positive side (+) of the CR 2032 battery faces the upward direction. - Press the battery to fix in the slot provided. - Make sure the slots of the battery cover coincide with the base grooves, for the cover to fit in perfectly. - Using a coin, twist the slot in a clock-wise direction so the indication marks match perfectly and the battery cover is locked.

    14. Can I use my own activity tracker during Stepathlon? - No. In order for step counts to be fair, everyone needs to be using the same device. We cannot account for any other device that we have not tested and trialled.

  • Step Entry

    1. How do I enter my step count? - Your daily step count is to be entered into the Stepathlon Course Website,

which can be accessed from www.stepathlon.com or via the Stepathlon Mobile App. Ensure that your Stepathlon BUDDE is reset every day. If you are unable to enter your steps for any reason, simply write them down, and you can enter them the next time you log in using the Missed Steps function on the Stepathlon Course Website.

    2. What happens when I enter my steps? - Your steps are added to your team's total. The total steps taken by a team

are converted to kilometres and plotted on Stepathlon's map of the 'virtual world'. As more steps are taken, teams advance. You can also see your teams position on the Leader Board in which all teams are ranked based on total distance travelled.

    3. When should I enter my Steps? - We suggest you enter your steps before going to sleep every day or next day

morning via the Missed Steps panel. 4. What should I do if I submit an incorrect step entry? - We suggest that you adjust the difference in your next step entry. 5. When can I start entering my steps? - You can submit your first step entry on the day that the race starts, which is

3rd September 2014. 6. Can I enter a step value for multiple days? - If you have not submitted previous days entries, you can visit the Missed

Steps panel on the home screen to submit step counts for multiple days. 7. What does it mean if you get a Speed Check? - You have entered a high step count. When submitting your explanation,

please account for precise details i.e. details of activity, distance and time spent taking part in activity and what you did differently to achieve a high walking step count during your normal day. The following applies: - Steps: XXX steps - Cycling: XXX kms - Swimming: XXX metres - Yoga: XXX mins

  • - Gym: XXX mins (ensure that time spent on the treadmill, step machine, cross-trainer/ elliptical, aerobics, Zumba or any other cardio activity is not included in your Gym time allocation as the pedometer can count these steps instead).

    8. What happens when my entry for the Speed Check gets rejected? - You will have a second chance to visit the Missed Steps panel and enter your steps for the correct date with a detailed explanation. Should this Speed Check be rejected again by our experts, the Stepathlete will receive the Race Average.

    9. Wondering what to do if youre ill/injured/absent for part of the challenge? - On the step entry panel you can select the option that you were sick or travelling on that day. You will then be granted your event average.

    10. I'm going on holidays, what should I do? - Take your pedometer with you and participate in the race from wherever you are. Stepathlon is for anyone, anywhere, anytime. Ensure that you note down each days step counts and enter these when possible.
