Cover Letter Farzeen Faiz +971 507756187 [email protected] My passion for engineering started at a young age, and this made me a part of several projects and groups that made innovative use of energy and technology to benefit mankind. I am a graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (B-tech). I am presently awaiting result of my Master's degree in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. I have 1 year experience in research on renewable power systems, distribution networks and demand side management and also 1 year of work experience (Electrical Engineer Trainee) in maintenance, site supervision, troubleshooting and commissioning at MIR Realtors, Kochi, India. My area of focus has always been towards renewable energy technologies and sustainability. In order to achieve this I have undergone intensive training on solar power plant designing, testing and commissioning (certificates are attached). I have also been awarded Galileo Master Certificate for Solar PV Engineer issued by the European Energy Centre, UK. My final year project during undergraduate studies was on designing a solar power plant at peak load by using smart distribution system for our college. In order to accomplish the project I have been a part of several solar based projects in Kerala and Hyderabad in India. Visit to solar plant at the Kochi International Airport was made to have further understanding on the implementation of solar power plant. During the course I have got thorough understanding of both standalone and grid tied systems. I have also freelanced feasibility studies and effectiveness on implementation of PV system for couple of projects. I am proficient in PVSyst a solar power plant design platform. A paper on designing a power plant on peak load has been published, details in the link below: http://esatjournals.net/ijret/2014v03/i05/IJRET20140305037.pdf I have not attached the details of my postgraduate project as the master’s thesis is under evaluation. I have attached a reference letter from my senior supervisor for my performance during postgraduate research. I am also attaching my LinkedIn profile for further details. https://ae.linkedin.com/in/farzeen-faiz-47b71568 I am self-motivated, responsible, dedicated and hard working. I have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I can work effectively in a team as well as independently. I am flexible and can quickly adapt to work in a new team. I am willing to learn and confident to accept new challenges. Thank you for your time, kindly go through the attached resume. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss the on options available. Regards, Farzeen Faiz

quality control. Skills developed during the period include project planning, working in a team,
work coordination, monitoring, communication and leadership skills.
CERTIFICATION
Galileo Master Certificate for Solar Power Plant Design (Internationally Recognized Certificate for Renewable Energy by European Energy Centre, EEC), 2013.
Autodesk certified professional for REVIT MEP 2015.
ACADEMIC PROJECTS & PUBLICATIONS
Demand side management of electrical grid using “Smart Domestic Water Heater controller” in 2015 (Master’s project under evaluation).
Solar PV Plant design and Smart distribution system for college - Solar power plants are
designed according to the connected load. Generally, the peak load rarely reaches the
connected load. Hence designing a system for connected load is uneconomical. System design
can be based on the peak load by implementation of a Smart Distribution System (SDS) that
saves cost of implementation of the PV system.
Automatic light control using microcontroller – controlling lighting in a room by constantly
monitoring the level of luminance in a room. Lights are then controlled such that required
illumination is available in the room. It can be applied effectively in commercial buildings,
homes and colleges.

Reference for Farzeen Faiz Adi Rajah.
I have known Farzeen for one year, since he enrolled in our Electrical and Computer Engineering department as a ME student. I am his primary and sole supervisor. His thesis work involves developing a grid-connected power electronic converter that can be used to implement demand side management of domestic water heaters, and involves system design and assessment, and hardware, software and printed circuit board design and implementation. He has developed a strong set of practical power electronic, software and design skills.
Farzeen is still enrolled in his Master of Engineering here, and is due to submit his thesis before the end of February.
It has been a real pleasure to have Farzeen working with me during 2015/2016. He has been very easy to supervise – he is smart, hard-working and self motivated. He always goes the extra mile to make sure he is doing the right thing, and is always clear and well prepared when he presents his work to me. He listens well and takes direction clearly, and obviously enjoys learning new things and taking on technical challenges. He has strong technical and academic capabilities, and the work ethic and organisational ability to complete what he needs to do within the required timeframe.
Personally, Farzeen has also been very easy to work with. He is friendly, honest, helpful and humble. He listens carefully and communicates clearly, and while he is able to work by himself, he would be very effective as part of a team, due to his clarity of thought, focus on outcomes, and easy personality. Other staff in our department have reported back to me the obvious pleasure they had in working with him.
I highly recommend Farzeen for employment. His combination of technical ability, work ethic, and pleasant personality ensure that he will be a strong contributor in any work environment, and I would expect him to be chosen for leadership roles in due course. He really will provide great value.
