SBAS and GBAS FAS Data Blocks
Eurocontrol FAS DB Tool will focus on SBAS For GBAS the needs are different.
Note that GBAS and SBAS FAS Data Blocks are not the same Different tools are therefore required.
SBAS FAS DB include the VAL and HAL. GBAS FAS DB do not include Alert Limits.

Operation Type
 PANS OPS Definition
A number from 0 to 15 that indicates the type of the final approach segment. Example: 0 is coded for a straight-in approach procedure including offset procedures. (Codes for other procedures are reserved for future definition.)
Note that “0” is the only valid input for both straight-in and offset procedures.
ICAO PBN RAiSG 9
Reference Path Identifier (RPI
Annex 10: the three or four alphanumeric characters used to uniquely designate the reference path.
PANS OPS: A four-character identifier that is used to confirm selection of the correct approach procedure.
 System: E = EGNOS, W = WAAS, G = GAGAN Runway Number: e.g. 27 Letter: A for the 1st procedure B for the 2nd etc. excluding L, R, C.
 Example: E27A
ICAO PBN RAiSG 10
Route Indicator
A single alpha character (Z to A or blank, omitting I and O) used to differentiate between multiple final approach segments to the same runway or heliport. The first approach to a runway is labelled “Z”. Additional alpha characters are incrementally assigned.
Only used if multiple RNP Approach procedures are published. Normally this field is left blank.
Chart Title Examples: Single procedure: RNAV(GNSS) RWY 35, RI field blank Multiple procedures: RNAV(GNSS) Z RWY 35, RI field = Z
A second procedure requires a new FAS DataBlock – The RI and RPI fields change and a new SBAS Channel number is required even though the final segment may be identical.

Validation of the FAS DB Tool
How has the Tool been validated – against which regulatory documents? There are no regulatory documents specifically applicable to such tools. The tool has been validated and a report has been made available to
RAiSG participants.
The tool has been used extensively and has proved to be correct
Electronic Transfer of FAS DB. PANS OPS requires FAS DB to be stored as a binary string and
transferred electronically.
Processes between procedures design organisations and data houses do not exist to accommodate such electronic transfer.
