These are both partial fasts, not complete fasts which consists of water only. You

THE DANIEL FAST: Daniel 1:12 "...Let them give us vegetables to eat and water

to drink."

Your effort is to eat HEALTHY FOODS and abstain from "party foods." This is

your time to improve your health and to learn to eat food with the least amount of

man made processing. A Daniel Fast is useful in restoring good health. Your main

objective is to eat foods as close to the natural way God made them. This is, for

the most part, a vegetarian diet with an emphasis on fresh vegetables, fresh

fruitsprouted grains, and water.

Think pure, think simple in your menu and eating selections. For two short weeks,

out of this entire year, you are returning to a more natural, biblically based diet, so

make the effort for the maximum results, both physically and especially spiritually.

For example, eat the apple verses the apple pie ; a plain baked potato and steamed

vegetables instead of French Fries.

(The following are additional guidelines for the Daniel Fast)

Plenty of Pure Water: very important!

Fruits: apples, oranges, pears, grapes, dates, raisins, mangoes, bananas , dried fruit,

and many other natural fruits.

Natural Fruit Juices: All kinds of natural fruit juices are good, however, unfiltered

apple juice is the best *(dilute with pure water).

Vegetables: green leafy lettuces, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, squashes, root

vegetables, green beans, tomatoes, and many other natural vegetables.

Whole Grain Products: noodles , pasta* made with whole wheat or spinach, barley,

natural brown rice, and wild rice.*

Cereal: oatmeal, cream of wheat, whole grain rice cakes, granola, and whole wheat

crackers (Akmak brand is good*).

Unrefined Sugars: (Use sparingly) honey, fruit juice like apple, real maple syrup,

dates or molasses on unsweetened cereal.

Nuts: almonds*, cashews*, peanuts, sunflowers. Do not use these to "stuff ' your

hunger pang. Use a small handful to quiet the hunger discomfort and raise your

energy in a healthy way; for example, a teaspoon of natural peanut butter is OK with

an apple.

Beans: red beans, pinto beans, lentil beans)Jlack beans, etc.

Note: If for medical reasons you must have a protein in your diet, follow the

Daniel Fast and include a protein menu, limited to eggs, fish, chicken, tofu or

soy products. Try to stay away from beef, pork and dairy (cheese).

You should exclude the following from your meal selections:

• Soda

• Coffee

• Dessert

• Candy

• Sugar

• Bread

• Meat

• Dairy Products

• Eggs

• Potato Chips, Popcorn, and Snack Food Products

• "Comfort Foods"

ONE MEAL A DAY

Your one meal may include all foods in moderation. This is still a limited or

partial fast consisting of abstaining from particular meals for a prolonged period

of time ; For example, eating one meal after 3:00 PM (dinner) and abstain from

eating breakfast and lunch. You may adjust this to breakfast only and abstain

from eating lunch and dinner, or eat lunch only and abstain from breakfast and

dinner. It is your choice.

A little fruit juice and/or a piece of fruit may be necessary depending on your

fasting experience and/or your work needs. This is just to give you the little bit

of energy you may need to perform your work properly.

It would be a great benefit to you to follow the objective of eating foods as close

to the natural way God made it, with an emphasis on fresh vegetables , fresh

fruits, whole grains, and water with the addition of meat or a protein source of

your choice.

Please consult with your Physician before beginning any type of fast or

change in diet. Many medications work in conjunction with meals and a

regulation of blood sugar levels and other necessary chemical balances

within your body. Follow the leading of the Lord with soundness of mind

and good common sense.
