We are Graduating!
You are all invited to come to Eastwest
College on the 5th of
December for afternoon tea
as we celebrate
those students who are
graduating this year.
Thank each of you for your prayers and love over our time here at Eastwest. Last term was
very busy; both Carah and I were studying together and both going on trips with the
college to two different mission expos to help mobilize for the college. This term is shaping up to be the biggest term we have ever had. Both of us are in a three-week block course
for language learning, followed by World Religions, which will be one of the last papers
we do. Friends, praise God with us because when we came here to Eastwest College we felt the Lord guide us in not taking a student loan, so at the end we could leave debt free. Over our two years here our costs have been over $32,000 now coming to the end we only have $6000 left to pay
plus Luke’s TESOL summer course. Please

What is next for us…When we first came to college I
was like any young man ready for D.I.Y. I went from thinking we didn’t need training to go into overseas mission, to now
not wanting to leave because it feels like we need still more
training. But things are coming to end for us as students at
Eastwest College, and the next stage begins.
I remember being in Australia in 2011, and we were teaching Bible in Schools. A young boy walks up to me and says, “You don’t look like a
missionary”. My response was, “Well, what does a missionary look like?” At this point he asked me why I was not old like his normal teacher, and where
was my tie?
Young people have always been placed on our hearts for many reasons. First, I long to see young people have the life that many are not given.
Second, I believe many youth today under estimate their giftings and how much they have to offer in the spread of the gospel. Carah and I believe God
is asking us to stay on at Eastwest College for the next 6 months as volunteer staff, to help run and promote the college. Our heart is to see
many young people find their calling into long-term mission. At the risk of sounding outrageous, I believe young people are the future of mission; they have so many talents to use—young people reaching young people. That is
why we have decided to stay on and serve here at Eastwest as full-time volunteers. This means a few changes for us; to start with, Carah will be getting a bigger kitchen as we will be moving into a slightly bigger home. Carah is planning to finish off some papers that she was unable to do this
year because of health reasons. I will work just about fulltime with the College in the area of promotions and media. It also means that we are going to be back relying on full-time support. As you may know already, Eastwest is a fully volunteer-based college, meaning staff must pay for
housing, food and any other basics of living. Please pray as we try and widen our prayer and financial support
Our heart for overseas mission is still very alive and active, however, and we still plan to leave for India long-term next year. But we believe this next
season of our mission is right here in New Zealand.

We went camping for our first time as a family
We spent a lovely four days and three nights at Hot Water Beach camp site. We went with some families from college, which have two of Leah’s closest friends. Needless to say it
was a blast.
This coming January, Luke is enrolled in a four-week NZQA accredited course for Teaching English As a Second
Language. Carah finished this course in 2013. We believe having this under both our belts could really help in
volunteer options in India in the future
Please pray for:# Leah, because people (her
family) at college will be leaving this term
# Luke and Carah as we both finish our Tools for Language Learning
course# Luke and this very big TESOL
course over summer# Our connection with young
