January 2016 was a wonderfully happy new year with God’s blessing shown to His people. The WMU groups have been challenged and encouraged to accept many new areas of opportunities and service as we remind ourselves of the Great Commission. We appreciate the mission testimonies and prayerfully avail ourselves to continue in our labors together with God. The fields are white but the laborers are few! Keep praying for each other as we grow in Spirit and truth and our faith, which leads us into obedience of God’s word. Let’s all join in “The Greatest Journey”! The “little dresses” project is ongoing and we are calling for more pillow cases, fabric and ribbons, buttons, bows & lace and any other items for trim-ming the dresses. Thank you all for helping us continue this work of love. Love and sympathy extended to the family of Sara Williams. You are so welcomed to join a mission study group of your choice. Share your testimony.• Myrtice Owens - Monday, February 8, at 6:30 p.m. at FBC• Mann/Harper Mission Group - Tuesday, February 9, at 10:00 a.m. at

The FBC Golden Agers met on January 14 for their regular monthly meeting. Jim O’Daniel presented a fun and entertaining program.

Dan Arsenault grew up in the Atlanta, Georgia area graduating as valedictorian from Berkmar High School. Dan dropped out of church as a teen and became an atheist. But while pursuing his masters degree in philosophy at Vanderbilt, Dan began researching and reading the Bible. He became a believer on September 5, 1972.

A growing sense of calling regard-ing the unchurched led Dan to resign from the pastorate in 2002 to launch Dan Arsenault Min-istries, a ministry of apologetics built around a television program, Church for Skeptics. The program has aired since January of 2003, and has given Dan the opportunity to teach around the world, includ-ing the United Nations in Vienna, the Institute for Science in Reyk-javik, Iceland, and the “Harvard” of Canada, McGill University. His program can be seen by 3.5 million people throughout the southeast.

Dan is a great friend and one of my favorite speakers. He will be speaking in both services on Sun-day, February 7. A love offering for his ministry will be taken that day.

I don’t know about you, but I love Netflix. It is just the greatest creation. Leah and I pro-gressively have really cut down on the televi-sion we watch because of the content in most tv shows. In fact, that is one of the primary reasons we are such baseball fans, because it is something we feel can be on the television and we don’t generally have to worry about what they kiddos may hear or see if they are in the room. But during the winter, when there is no baseball, we are netflix nuts. It’s great because you can find a show you like and watch as much as you want as quick as you want. We’ve been watching “The Office” for the past few months and you know what that means… I talk about “The Office” with people. I ask people all the time if they’ve watched it and then I can make references to the show, because it is something I have been spending my time on lately. Recently, Netflix released a documentary called “Making a Murderer.” You may have seen it or heard about it. I haven’t watched it yet, but from what I can see, it is a lot like the NPR series “Serial,” which lays out the evidence for a complex case. It is full of doubt and suspicion as to whether this per-son is guilty or not. I’m sure Leah and I will get around to watching it sometime. Any-way, the point I wanted to make is this, my Facebook has been blowing up with people talking about this show. They argue back and forth about whether the man on the documentary is actually guilty or not. They have invested hours of their life recently into watching this riveting series and want to talk about it. We are creatures made to talk about what we are interested in. Whether it is your fa-vorite sports team, your favorite hobby, your favorite place to hunt, or your new tv show binge, you talk about what you enjoy. On Sunday, January 24, the Praise Team sang a song called, “One Name Alone,” which opens with these two lines, “Everybody praises the thing they love. Everyone announces what they adore.” Don’t you find that to be true?If we are willing to invest hours each week into sports, hobbies, tv shows, or you fill-in-the-blank, then we talk about it. The ques-tion has to then be asked, why do we not spend more time talking about the Lord? If we are truly taking delight in him, should our Facebook feeds be filled with talk about how great He is? Shouldn’t our coworkers know us as someone who radiates with the love of God and whose lips are filled with His Word? Shouldn’t our families know right where we stand with the Lord? I challenge you to take inventory about how much you talk about things this week. Take delight in the Lord and let your speech reflect that delight.
