Message from the organizing committee of Realities In Medicine Conference 2018
Welcome to #REALMx2018!!
About CHISIL
The Collaborative Human ImmerSive Interactions Lab (CHISIL) was founded by Drs.
Fahad Alam & Clyde Matava in 2014. Being clinical investigators and educators with
interests in medical education and technology enhanced learning, they decided to
form a lab focused on immersive reality. Based in Toronto, CHISIL is a collaborative
laboratory looking at the use of virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed realities in
clinical, medical and patient education in the perioperative period. CHISIL aims to be
a resource for developers, healthcare workers, medical learners and patients. For more
information, please visit www.chisil.ca.
We are delighted to host Canada’s first Realities In
Medicine Conference 2018 (#REALMx2018) in
Toronto, Ontario. This is the first Canadian conference
showcasing research into the use of mixed realities in
medicine. We have brought together the world’s
leading medical researchers and industry tech
leaders in augmented, virtual and mixed realities. By
being here you are obviously committed to moving
the area of immersive reality in healthcare forward!
When we first created the Collaborative Human
ImmerSive Interactions Lab (CHISIL) – the main
obstacles we ran into was the fact that as physicians
we needed to really connect with like-minded
industry and tech partners so we could collaborate
with combined expertise. This was not an easy task!
Thus, the vision for this conference was to help others
in our position avoid these problems.
