PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I have recovered from my reverse shoulder replacement I had done November 3rd. I had very little pain and am not doing any more physical therapy. I rode for the first time with John on January 17th on Magic my 27 year old. Magic hasn't changed a bit, he is still walking out at 4 1/2 miles an hour and wants to gitter done! It was so wonderful to ride again! I feel so blessed because I heard all these horror stories about shoulder surgery and I didn't know if I would ever ride again. I owe my success to my surgeon. Thank you all for your cards and your kind wishes. I really appreciated them! Watch for all of our ride coming up. With the changing weather conditions, one never knows if we have to cancel a ride. Always contact your trail boss before a ride and make sure the ride is still on. Plan on arriving at a ride one hour early. This will give you time to sign in, saddle and be in the saddle 10 minutes before departure time. At our Chili Ride people were arriving when we were supposed to be leaving. REMEMBER, Corral 22 always leaves on time!! Always have the trail bosses Cell number handy in case you have problems on the way. Communication is very important! Happy Trails, Sharon

Losses: Edwina Thompson passed away. Edwina had been an ETI member for years. She was very proficient at cutting and won many cutting events. She then joined ETI and rode the trails with many of us.

HORSIN’ AROUND Chile Ride Report Courtesy of Sharon Richardson. The Doc Larsen Chile Ride actually went to Plan E this year. Susy Ellinger put me in touch with Bill and Shiela Mears. The Mears live across the street from the Ranger Park and Bill knows the Captain, Scott Carpenter, real well. What a fabulous place to have the Chili. Bathroom, chairs, tables, covered patio, YES! The crew was John, myself, Bill, Tina, Walt, Susy, Mary Measures. Special thanks goes to Bill and Sheila Mears for getting the Park for us at the last minute. The rains have been so horrendous that we had to wait until the last minute. Special thanks to Eric Swain a member and neighbor who brought the ice in for us and packed up the Goody Wagon which is a tremendous amount of work! Bill and John made the Chili! Susy shopped and brought in the fixings. Walt did the set up. Tina, Kat and me made cornbread. Mary Measures made brownies, cornbread and set up for the ride. 32 riders rode. Not bad for the bad weather we have been having!

HORSIN’ AROUND Tad Williams Ride by Trail Boss Extraordinaire Irene Scott: It was an all around great ride. Great ride, weather, people, horses and FOOD. We had 50 riders attend, ranging from 7 to 100 years old. The trail was scenic and beautiful. We staged from the Rose Bowl and continued down the Lower Arroyo Seco Trail that was dedicated to Tad Williams. We rode under the famous Colorado Blvd. bridge, past the fish hatch-ery, Busch Gardens, San Pasqual Stables, and Arroyo Seco Park. We passed under the Pasadena Freeway and beside the golf course to Tad William's Arroyo Seco Stable. We were greeted by Terry Williams and boarders from the stable. The food was fabulous and well prepared by our own Joseph Matamo-ras. He also prepared a wonderful lunch stop including tie lines and water buckets. John Richardson and Rudy Goutier supervised. Back at the rigs all posed for pictures in front of the historic Rose Bowl sign. A special thank you to my outriders, Paul Jaques and Tiffanie Bailey and the ultimate communicator, Kathleen Ungamrung.
