Training Requirements
• A number of OSHA regulations require employers to train their employees on specific hazards in General Industry
Exits Routes & emergency Planning
• Emergency Action plans- Workers must be trained on:
• Ways to report a fire• How to evacuate & routes• How everyone will be accounted for• Procedures for workers that remain to
operate critical equipment• Procedures for workers who render
medical duties
Fire Prevention Plans
• An employer must inform employees upon initial assignment to a job of the fire hazards to which they are exposed.
• Example: Flammable liquids
Powered Platforms For Building Maintenance
• Workers trained on:• Safety hazards of their specific work tasks,• Hazards with work platforms including the
specific hazards with the type of platform being used
• Personal fall arrest equipment • Inspection of platform & fall protection
equipment
Powered Platforms For Building Maintenance
• Written work procedures for operation, safe use and inspection of working platforms
• Pictorial methods of instruction may be used
• The operating manuals supplied by manufacturers can be used as the basis for these procedures.
• Training must be certified
Occupational Noise
• Training program for those exposed to noise at or above an 8-hour time weighted average of 85 decibels
• Annual retraining• Training to cover:• Effects of noise on hearing• Use of hearing protectors• The purpose of audiometric testing
Flammable Tank Storage
• Tanks stored in areas prone to flooding• Detailed printed instructions of what to do
in flood emergencies are properly posted. • Workers informed as to the location and
operation of such valves and other equipment necessary to effect these requirements
Transportation of Explosives• Driver trained on
hazard and how to protect public of Class A & B explosives
• Requirements for bulk delivery, packaged, and water gel slurry blasting agents
Storage & Handling of LP Gas• Workers properly
trained in installation, removal, operation, and maintenance
Anhydrous Ammonia
• Workers loading and unloading tank cars
Process Safety Management• Process Operators• Refresher training
every 3 years• Workers doing
process maintenance to maintain process integrity

Process Safety Management
• Contractors trained on work practices and what to do in case of fire, explosion or toxic release

Accident Prevention Signs & Tags
• Workers informed that danger signs indicate immediate danger and special precautions are necessary
• Workers informed that caution signs indicate a possible hazard against which proper precautions should be taken
Permit Required Confined Spaces
• Training for entrants, attendants, entry supervisor, rescuers & emergency services workers
• Training must be certified
Lock Out / Tag Out• Authorized & affected

Medical Services & First Aid

Subpart Q - Welding• Welders & cutters suitably and their
supervisors are suitably trained in the safe operation of their equipment and the safe use of the process.
• Workers operating oxygen or fuel-gas supply equipment, including generators, and oxygen or fuel-gas distribution piping systems shall be instructed and judged competent.
Arc Welding• Workers designated
to operate arc welding equipment shall have been properly instructed and qualified
Resistance Welding• Workers designated
to operate resistance welding equipment shall have been properly instructed and judged competent to operate such equipment.
Subpart R – Special Industries
• Pulp Paper Mills - Training on chlorine respirators
• Laundries - Workers trained on hazards verbally and in writing
• Logging - Safe performance of duties and on equipment used to fell trees, retraining, and first aid training. Training must be certified.

• Telecommunications – • (1) Recognition and avoidance of dangers
relating to encounters with harmful substances and animal, insect, or plant life;
• (2) Procedures to be followed in emergency situations; and,
• (3) First-aid training, including instruction in artificial respiration.

• Training on transmission, disinfection, post exposure evaluation and follow up, hepatitis B vaccination

• Training records must be kept 3 years• The trainer is required to be
knowledgeable about bloodborne pathogens so they can answer worker’s questions.

• Training to cover long terms hazards of cotton dust, where exposure can occur, respiratory protection
