FEBC Establishes 7th Radio Station in Ukraine.

All hail the power of Jesus’ Name! Let angels prostrate fall;Bring forth the royal diadem, And crown Him Lord of all.

These were the opening words of FEBC’s first radio station when it launched on June 4, 1948, in Manila, Philippines…words glorifying Jesus.

A Vision from God and the Faith to FollowSharing Christ and leading people to faith has been the cornerstone of FEBC from that first day of ministry in 1948, and has continued uninterrupted for 70 years! While co-founders Robert Bowman and

John Broger originally planned to broadcast from China, this plan was abandoned when Communism overtook the country, forcing them to look elsewhere.

And God provided! The war-ravaged islands of the Philippines had just declared its independence, and FEBC soon established a base of operations in Manila, blanketing China with a powerful shortwave radio broadcast.

Since then, our Philippines staff has established 12 radio stations throughout the country. To this day, international shortwave broadcasts from two facilities transmit daily

“I sell eggs in the market to take care of my 10-year old granddaughter whose parents

abandoned her when she was two. We live in a shack in the middle of nowhere. There is no running water or electricity.

“I became a Christian through a friend at the market. She gave me a speaker box and registered me into FEBC’s Gospel Speaker Box program at the village church – a 3-hour walk away. I take the speaker box with me to the market every day to charge the battery; it’s the only link we have to faith.

“At night my granddaughter and I huddle together around the box and listen to God’s Word. We enjoy many programs, but the current series from Philippians is our favorite. The topic is joy!”

Today we are celebrating our very first radio station. We are so thankful for God’s wisdom and direction that guided us through the past 70 years, resulting in millions of people turning to Christ.

Untold Story: Our PartnersWhile we’re thrilled to reflect on 70 years of broadcasting, this is also a story of the faithfulness of our friends and supporters who honored God through their prayers and giving, so that others might hear the salvation message and follow Christ…right into eternity!

Without people like you investing yourself in this ministry, FEBC would never have been able to expand our “You’re the only ones who can bring hope to our people,”

Ukrainian government officials tell us, based on the success they’ve seen in other cities where FEBC broadcasts.

That’s why we’re about to launch our 7th station located in Pokrovsk, Ukraine in July 2018.

Most of FEBC’s Ukrainian stations are in the war-torn eastern regions of the country. Struggling with fear, depression, and loneliness, people are tuning into FEBC and finding truth and comfort in God’s Word. They’re learning about Jesus and the magnitude of His love for them, replacing heartache and loss with a hope they never before experienced.

“It took this war for me to become interested in spiritual things,” Andrey shared. “It’s a miracle in this city devastated by the war that we can hear these powerful lessons from the Bible. Thank you.”

Planning for MillionsHundreds of thousands of listeners are currently tuned into FEBC in Ukraine, but we are praying and planning for millions. Part of the strategy to increase our reach is to create an evangelism center in Kiev, Ukraine’s capital, which will provide studio space for broadcasting, a conference room to meet with local leaders, and office space for staff.

In addition to our daily broadcasts, our top priority is to follow-up with listeners who contact us. To that end, we are training counselors as quickly as possible. Many listeners come to faith in Christ after a personal call or visit from our team, who then help them connect with a local body of believers to provide ongoing fellowship and discipleship.

Healing from the InsideOur vision is for millions of Ukrainians to discover the gift of salvation and learn that God loves and cares for them. People like Anna are learning this firsthand, as she heals from a shattered heart:

What an honor to attend the celebration of FEBC Philippines’ 70th anniversary last month! It was a particularly touching moment when we all joined in to sing All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name, the same hymn sung on the opening broadcast of FEBC’s first radio station in 1948. Dr. Bob Bowman and John Broger, co-founders of FEBC, would have been so pleased to see the ministry they helped launch celebrating such a momentous milestone.

Seventy years of sharing the Good News!

God has used this ministry mightily…and continues to do so today. The number of listeners who share their stories of changed lives grows every year and that, friends, is what it’s all about: people discovering God’s love through the gift of His Son, Jesus, who came to earth as a Savior to all who believe in Him.
