Lottie Moon Offering Update

What is the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering?

Southern Baptist churches

collect the Lottie Moon

Christmas Offering for the

sole purpose of supporting

international missions. Every

penny of the offering goes

to the International Mission

Board’s overseas budget,

thus supporting our mission-

aries and their work.

The goal for the 2010 offer-

ing is $175 million. Our

church’s goal (as set by our

Mission Ministries Team) is

$12000.00.

The 2010 theme, “Are we

there yet?” reflects the fact

that for the first time in his-

tory, we can identify the

people groups that remain

untouched by the Gospel.

We can get there in our gen-

eration! But that last part of

the journey may be the

hardest. It will take all of

us—our churches, our mission-

aries, our national partners,

our Great Commission part-

ners—to achieve that goal.

Angelo State Univer-sity’s plan to buy our church opens the door for us as a church to think, pray and plan for the future. We have known that our property is part of ASU’s centennial plan. From time to time over the years, ASU repre-sentatives would come and visit with us about buying our property. Since Dr. Rollo became president of the univer-sity, they have acceler-

ated their building process. Two years ago, we formed an ad hoc com-mittee to do some research and make recommendations to the church. The ad hoc committee has sched-uled a lunch meeting on Sunday, February 27 immediately after the morning service to dis-cuss our future. We need everyone to be there.

Would you make this a matter of daily prayer? We need to ask for God’s wisdom and his guidance. We are excited to see what God has in store for us. Our loca-tion does not change the heart that God has given us “to make disci-ples, who make disci-ples, who make disci-ples…”
