YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY assists and
encourages young adults in their 20s and 30s to
deepen their relationship with God through Jesus
Christ, to the Church and her mission and to form a
peer community to further support and nurture their
faith. Young Adult Ministry is all about connecting
and building relationships: with Jesus, with the Church
and with each other. To this end the Office of Young
Adult Ministry facilitates the creation of regional
Young Adult Groups and a Young Adult Core team to
create opportunities for prayer, fellowship, events,
service projects, retreats and providing resources for
and by Young Adults.

YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY
Are you a Young Adult Catholic? If you are
Catholic and under 40, you are a Young Adult
Catholic. We would like to reach out to our Young
Adult Catholics and create a program created by them,
a program that will help them appreciate the beauty of
their faith, that will understand their world in the light
of belief in God and His Church. We would like to
find a few young adult Catholics willing to help
organize such a program. Don’t worry about what
talent you may or may not have. We do not have to
reinvent the wheel. Many different doable models of
Young Adult Catholic ministry exist. If you are
interested in getting involved, please call Fr. Murray
at 315-782-2468.
If you would like a tax statement for your
2016 contributions to the Church, please call the Rectory at (315) 782-2468. We only send
them out if requested.

Sir 15:15-20/1 Cor 2:6-10/Mt 5:17-37 or 5:20-22a, 27-28,

Today's gospel speaks about not just external observance of
the law, but also about conforming our interior lives to
God's will. It is easy to put on a good show so that from the
outside we look like good Christians. Faith should not be
reduced to just an empty routine. Can we truly worship God
and be in communion with him when we look down on
those He loves as not good enough or not worthy? We are
called to conform our heart and will to his and to love all
whom He loves… Is there someone with whom you need to
reconcile?

First Presbyterian Church, Holy Family Church and
Trinity Episcopal Church
Note From the Pope,
POPE FRANCIS: Every life is sacred.
On Sunday, Italy celebrated the Day for Life,
convened by the Italian Episcopal Conference. The
Pope, at the end of the Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s
Square launched this message of support.
POPE FRANCIS
“Let us pray together for the children who are in
danger of pregnancy being interrupted, as well as the
people who are at the end of life, every life is sacred,
so that no one is left alone.”
Since the motto of the day was “Women and men
for life on the road to St. Teresa of Calcutta”, the
Pope recalled words from the nun who was canonized
in September 2016.
POPE FRANCIS “Let us remember Mother Teresa’s words: Life is
beauty, admire it. Life is life, defend it. Be it of the
unborn child, be it of the person whose death is near.
Every life is sacred.”
The Pope has launched several appeals against
abortion and euthanasia in his pontificate, both in
Rome and on his travels. He says that behind these
acts there is a misunderstanding of compassion, and
that the defense of life is not a philosophical or religious
question, but a scientific one.

Note From the Pastor,
I am in Florida now, giving everyone a little break from
me, and will return Wednesday February 15th. I am staying
in Pompano Beach, missing the cold, snow, and all the joys
of the winter weather. NOT!!!
So far I have nine auction items of the ten I need so
keep thinking. They are :1)Party with the Priest, 2)Amish
Bench, 3)Flying Lesson/Air Tour, 4) Dinner for Four (Gary
McCullouch, Chef), 5)Three Night stay at Wind Song a
cottage in the Adirondack, 6) “Dry Arrangement, Artist
Proof by Audrey Jacobson, 7) $100.00 Gift Certificate for
Price Chopper, 8) Jensen I Jam docking digital musical
system for iPod, 9) beautiful hand-made quilt. So as you
can see I need one more item for the Auction.
Msgr. Aucoin and I have met several times to discuss
the Living Stones, Diocesan Pastoral Plan for Watertown.
Msgr. is the facilitator and he and I have determine that we
will have three representatives from each parish (St
Anthony’s St. Patrick’s and Holy Family). They will meet
and come up with recommendations which will be
reviewed by each parish council before a final
determination is made. The Plan calls for one pastor and an
assistant priest. I am in the process of determining who the
representatives will be from Holy Family. Please pray for
the members of this Steering Committee, and for all those
people who will be affected by this necessary Pastoral
Plan. Change is never easy and is always challenging but
with the Lord’s help it will be for the good of the Church
here in Watertown.
