February Library Roundup• Students and a few teachers participated in Blind Date with a Book this month.

Students selected gift-wrapped books that they promised to spend at least 24 hours getting to know. Then, they evaluated the book and entered their names in a prize drawing. Our winners? Mrs. Taylor, our ESOL teacher and team 6-2’s Sofia L.

• Mrs. McLean’s Literacy Club collected nearly 300 new and gently used books for Pilgrim’s Inn for Book Giving Day. Our library served as the collection spot!

• The library hosted IGB days, where 8th graders sign up for their high school classes.• Mrs. McManus and Ms. Knight traveled to Columbia to be part of a discussion

panel on moving to 1:1 technology integration at the SCEPUR conference.• Bad weather afforded Mrs. McManus a great opportunity to book talk some fun

reads to our sixth graders before early dismissal on February 11th.• 40 students participated in the South Carolina Junior Book Award voting party on

February 21st. Each of these students read at least 3 of the nominees and celebrated with pizza from Little Ceaser’s. Sullivan’s winning title? The Running Dream by Wendlein Van Draanen!

• Mrs. McManus had an intern spend a few hours in the library learning about our library program.
