ON THE GREENS

ON THE GREENS WITH

TIM CRANDALL

The winter season is upon us and the weather plays an

important role in the condition of the golf course as well as the

timing we can play. Frost delays can occur and cart path only

days will be a little more prevalent. The maintenance staff does

a great job getting everything ready for play so please obey the

cart rules to help avoid any disruption to the health of the

course. Watch for those text messages in an effort to alert you

of start times and course conditions.

A reminder that handicap renewal will take place on March 1.

Please notify us by the end of February to avoid being charged

the handicap fee. This billing is done electronically and bills

everyone that is active in the handicap system as of

March 1, 2016.

Don’t forget to sign up for the 2016 Cocktail Tough Day

Classic. This event is a scramble format with a shotgun starting

at 9:30 a.m. on February 27. Lunch will immediately follow the

round. Join us and test your skill and accuracy against this

grueling course setup. You can pick your own team or you can

let us know if you are looking for a partner and we will pair

you up. Don’t miss out on this action packed revenge filled

scramble.

Eligibility: 4 person teams consisting of members with

current USGA handicap index. Teams can be composed of

both Men and Women.

Format: Teams will play a scramble format against the crazy

golf course setup

Prizes: Prizes awarded for top net teams and gross teams

Cost: $45.00 per + cart fees includes Pre-event Bloody

Marys, Lunch, Prizes with Beer to follow

Deadline: Sign up by Thursday February 25 - 3 p.m.

PERFORMANCE CENTER

Golf packages available for private lessons for Juniors, Ladies

and Men. We have 5, 10 and 15 hour packages or we can

customize a package for you. Inquire with the golf shop or stop

by the Performance Center for more information.

COURSE MAINTENANCE

Due to the rain and other inclement weather conditions, the

contractors progress on removing the sand and bunker liner

has been moving quickly. Ideally I would have liked to try to

get 3-4 holes done at one time, but the spraying of the poly-

mer and the new gravel and sand installation has been slow.

The weather conditions for the polymer need to be basically

dry and dew free in the morning. There is usually a 24 hour

turn around after a rain event in which you cannot spray typi-

cally. Although some bunkers to date have been sprayed al-

ready, there are still some on the front 9 that have been

cleaned out that require the gravel and polymer. We are mak-

ing a lot of progress in one phase and I hope the others catch

up quickly. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Pre-emerge applications will be made towards the end of

January and beginning of February. The specific product that

we are using will need to be watered in, so if you see some

sprinklers running on dormant turf, that is the reason. We are

trying to get our product down to the soil surface. With the

weather patterns being what they are, applying before a timely

rain is also a great option.

Tree work was accomplished around #10 and #11 greens.

This really opened up some morning sunlight and will

benefit not only the green, but the collar and approach areas

as well.
