The ANTIQUE ROAD SHOW is coming back to Burn-side on Wed., February 3, 6:30 p.m. at BCC. Shir-lene Sparrow of Dallas City will have on exhibit some of her favorite antiques and will share their family stories. If you have an antique you would be willing to show the group and tell of its history, please bring it with you.
Refreshments will be served by Pam Jefferson and Minnie Cardenas-Toto. Becky Humphrey will give the devotion.
Keep those prayers going up so the blessings will come down upon your 2016 Sister-in-Christ. Our February meeting might be a good time to re-member your Sister with a Valentine card.

The last Sunday in February is leadership approval.
It’s a time where the elders and deacons who have
faithfully served at least 3 years are up for re-approval.
Qualifications for both Elder and Deacon may be found
in the New Testament letters: 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
As you review those qualifications, one of the ques-
tions that has been asked about qualifications of elder
and deacon is: age. How old do you have to be to be
an elder?
While it is true that the word ‘elder’ can mean one who
is older; the qualifications listed deal more with Spiritu-
al maturity than physical maturity. Some 65+ year old
men are spiritual teenagers! They are not spiritually
qualified to be considered for elder. And so the qualifi-
cations of elders and deacons are not necessarily age-
based, but rather, spiritually based.
Please prayerfully review the qualifications listed
above as you are considering the men for re-approval
this month.
These men are:
Re-approval for Deacon: Rick Dixon, Frank
Hutchins, Gene Scanlan, Doug Jacob, Scott Cowser
and Dennis Pettit. Re-approval for Elder: Wayne
Caparoon and Mark Pettit.
New approval for Deacon: Jim Snyder Sr., Jim
Jefferson, Brandon Bliss.
If you are a member of Burnside Christian Church and
16 years of age or older, please stop in the fellowship
hall on Sunday, February 28 and mark the approval/
disapproval ballot for the above men. Be reminded that
blank spaces are not counted per the By-Laws of
BCC.

The Elders at Burnside Christian Church have been asked to share their testimonies with you. Wayne Caparoon shares his testimony this month.
As a child and a youth growing up I came from a good home with values and a relationship with the church but there was not much conversation about God. I was taught right from wrong.
As a teenager I tried to find the correct path for me and it often deviated from some of the values I had been taught as a child.
In 1964 as a twenty year old I made a commitment to Christ that was the beginning of my present jour-ney. In 1966 Barb and I were married and continued on that journey together.
In the mid 70's as a young family we developed a friendship with Tom and Brenda Smith and their family who were attending church at Burnside. They invited us and we began to attend also. In 1977 Barb and I realized the need to be immersed and

Brock Vass as he publicly declared Jesus as his Savior and Lord on January 3, 2016. Dad Robbie Vass had the honor and privilege of baptizing Brock. Brock is a student in the Carthage schools and is part of a family that includes Dad Robbie, Mom Trish and 2 brothers. Encourage Brock as he
were baptized and joined the church on Septem-ber 25, 1977.
Since then I have felt the call of service on my life, service to the church and building up God's ministries, but also service to others.
Things that are close to my heart are helping to provide the needs of others with food, housing, clothing, friendship, emotional support and finan-cial help and advice. These are things that are shared with my wife and we have devoted our-selves to them. There are many rich blessings we have enjoyed, serving together.
I love God and desire to serve Him and to lead others closer to Him by serving them also. I real-ize that I am unworthy and feel privileged to be able to serve in the leadership at BCC. I love my church family and feel blessed by the many friendships we share at Burnside.
A second visit to the Midwest Food Bank will be

great time last year and allowed 18 people to be the
hands and feet of Jesus. Speak with Mark or
Robbie/Trish Vass to learn more about
last year’s experience.

The following information has been taken directly from their website at http://gnpi.org
What they do: “GNPI produces culturally relevant, Biblically based content in digital, video, and print format to accelerate global evangelism. GNPI helps people access the Gospel in their native language in a way they can understand.”
“Over nearly 4 decades, GNPI has built a solid foundation on several key values. They are core to every decision…make and inform the road ahead…. [They] are:
1. God’s Word - ensure all endeavors are Biblically based.
2. Cultural Relevance - customize resources for specific world communities
3. Strategic Partnerships - create synergy through global networks.
4. Creativity - infuse the ministry with imagination and innovation.
5. Excellence - aspire to reflect God’s glory in all we do.
6. Integrity - Honor God in all relationships.”
“News posted January 7, 2016 online about a message of joyful thanks we want to share with you, our ministry part-ners.
Joshua V, a Christian worker in India -- I can’t tell you how useful our Solar Kit has been. We used it in 27 different vil-lages so far, with almost 2,000 people attending to see our gospel film programs. We had 138 people who gave their
lives to Jesus, and in one village the whole tribe converted. We face a lot of persecution, but God is opening doors. While we were in one village, extremists came and threw the projector on the ground. We were afraid the projector had been damaged, but it is working perfectly. We have many pastors here who are praying and eagerly waiting to have more Solar Kits to use in their areas. Please continue to pray for the ministry here. We love you, and we thank God for GNPI. Thank you so much for giving us this wonderful gift to reach out to the lost in India.”
“Posted January 12, 2016 by Mike Schrage, Executive Direc-tor -- This year we celebrate 40 years of ministry at GNPI. The methods have changed from filmstrips, various video formats, and satellite uplink to digital media and Internet delivery systems. Ziden Nutt [founder of GNPI in 1976] said many times, “The methods change, but the Message remains the same.”
The goal has always been to accelerate global evangelism through media and technology.
Effective evangelism creates disciples who help others trans-form into the likeness of Christ. One of God’s transforming agents is Wilson Kandi, a member of our very first Nomad team in Eldoret, Kenya. He and Protus Sibukhule worked with American missionaries and GNPI to create indigenous media productions which have been shown on solar Kits in remote areas of Kenya where electricity is scarce.
I recently listened to Wilson as he passionately shared the need for additional relevant media productions. The new area where he working is full of bickering, and even killing, over land and cattle……”
