When you receive this newsletter the Swap Meet will be over and we canrelax for a few months. There will be a Swap Meet thank you dinner on February9th at 6:00 pm. Thank you to Keith and Barbara Collins for arranging this everyyear. I want to thank everyone for the work that was done for a successful SwapMeet.

Looking forward to our Feb 24th tour the Kriese’s are putting together forthe club. So dust off that “A” and get the club on the road again. Lets see if wecan break that record Jim and Dianne set in 2016 with 22 A’s on their firstAlmond Blossom tour !!

Lets have another year of fun with all of you and the A’s too.

2018 Reno National Convention Raffle

Dear Members:

A reminder that we are in charge of the raffle for the 2018Reno National Convention. If you know of any merchants,venders, or anyone, interested in donating items for the raffleplease call or email myself or Sharon.

Some of you may have Model A quilts or blankets orwould like to make something for the raffle prize that wouldbe most appreciated. The earlier we have things coming in, the easier our jobwill be near the deadline. We will also be soliciting all of the clubs nationwide for their participation. Thank you, Bob and Sharon

ALMOND BLOSSOMS TOURFebruary 24, 2018

We will assemble at Blue Diamond, 4800 Sisk Road,starting at about 10 AM in the south parking lot and we’llleave for our tour promptly at 10:30 AM. Blue Diamond NutStore will open at 10 AM and restrooms will be available.

This tour will cover about 110 miles, so be sure gas tankis full (we have no plans for a gas stop). Lunch will be atabout 12 Noon at Vito’s Ristorante in Turlock. Parking willbe across the street from Vito’s in the Stanislaus Stateparking lot. After lunch we will tour to Knights Ferry for icecream. After ice cream, we’ll tour home via Sonora Road,Orange Blossom Road, Rodden Road to Hwy 120.

Those of you from Oakdale, Hughson, Turlock, Hilmar orthe west side can break away at Oakdale, if you choose. Thetour will continue on River Road and McHenry Avenueback to Modesto.

The deposit and cost for guests is $20/person. Must bepaid before leaving on the tour. Sign-ups will be availableat the February general meeting and up to February 14th.Come join us for an enjoyable local tour in your Model A!

50 Years Ago -February 9, 1968The meeting was called to order in the Chuck Wagon.Guests were Fran and Chuck Thiel.A snow trip was planned. Pictures of Stan’s weddingwill be handled by him. Dick Braden moved that theemblem be entered in a contest. New stationery andsupplies needed to be purchased.The wedding will be at Our Lady of Fatima Church andmembers with their A’s are to be there early.The raffle was won by Stan Braden and Dan Southerby. 25 Years Ago - February 12, 1993The meeting was called to order by President Mary LouDark. Tour Leader Weldon Smith had Vicky Morrisonreport on the Black Hawk Tour. Hank Welch invitedall going to the Ripon Parade to his house for donutsand coffee before the parade. Jack Noxon explainedthe Gold Mining Tour. Gail Waters announced theColumbia Tour was featuring “Hello Dolly”. Hard Luck Trophy Chairman Paul Lubker was givenpermission to repair the trophy. Jim DeWilms sent flowers to Gene Jamison’s funeraland a plant to Lorraine. Plants were sent to WoodyMall and Marlene Bradon. Al Perruquet was havingtreatment and Nate Province was doing better. Robert Stoddard was getting prices for a rostercontaining pictures which Jerry Lutterman agreed totake. The food shack was given back to Keith Collins for useat his high school. Al Troglin was to hold a trunk making class at StanBraden’s shop. It was m/s/p by Gwen Barber and Jerry Lutterman tomove the Adam De Wilms scholarship to Modesto Jr.College. Cliff Wagoner had been funded a plane ticketin order to attend a golf conference and get back to theSwap Meet by the Board. The Board action met withsome opposition from the general membership. It was m/s/p by Teresa Gissible and Ermin Webb thatthe club pay the Swap Meet Registration Couples andSwap Meet Chairman $500 apiece. Hank Welch warned us not to weld our ball to our armbecause it could fall off and kill us! Rich and Kathy Wood conducted a raffle where 14prizes were won. Burta Herger, Sec.

15 Years Ago - February 14, 2003The meeting was called to order by President LindaMahnke at 8:03 p.m.Ron Crum introduced Grant & Patty Ecker attendingfirst official meeting.

Linda Mahnke awarded the Hard Luck trophy to Jerry& Joan Doll for car problems getting to the oilchanging seminar.Walter Brandhorst announced a practice session forHubleysDorothy Langill, Pat Oletta, and Mary Woolf areserving cherry and apple pie in honor of GeorgeWashington’s birthday.Linda Weaver & Jerry Lutterman reported that RobertErwin was happy to operate the kitchens. The policewere also happy how the Swap Meet went. Linda addedeveryone like the club kitchen.Jack Martin told all to give good checks for tours and toread the tour rules. Ron is in charge of the Riponparade. Jack said the whale watching tour is coming up.Chrissy Mahnke announced the Sierra Rail RoadDinner Tour will be in April.Linda announced that Leonard Kaiser was having testsand Karl Fischer was back in the hospital.It was m/s/p by Dan Dark and Bonnie Webber that wedo away with points and mileage.Linda Mahnke said that she would be asking BonnieWebber to put the swap meet backup in the club safedeposit box to which Bonnie agreed to do.Linda will dispose of the Ronald Mac Donald Houseraffle tickets.Raffle winners: Walt Langill, Hubley model; HarryWebber, cake tray & 1# variety pack; YvonneBrandhorst, 1# of nuts & chews, Bob Kriese, 1# redheart, Caroline Keltner, 9 oz. General MeetingJanuary 12, 2018

President Jack Martin called the General Meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. on January 12, 2018 in the ParkviewEstates meeting room.

Jack led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes submitted by Secretary Tina Chircop for the December 9, 2017 General Meeting stood approvedwith no corrections. It was announced that unapproved Minutes from the Jan. 8, 2018 Board meeting were atthe front desk.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Fred Dick announced that “we have money”.

Correspondence: Tina Chircop received a Christmas card from the Stanislaus Fairgrounds and receiveddonation requests from the Salvation Army and the American Cancer Society. The Club received thank younotes for our donations to Optimal Hospice in memory of Myrtle Wagoner, St. Jude’s Hospital in memoryof Elroy Eberwein and Brooks Rushing, and to the Model A Ford Foundation in memory of Elroy Eberwein,Burta Herger, Brooks Rushing, Myrtle Wagoner, and Mary Woolf. We received thank you cards from BurtaHerger’s son and daughter and from Betty Eberwein and family for our contribution to the Model A FordFoundation in memory of their loved ones. MAFFI sent us a thank you card for our donation of $973.00generated from our monthly raffles, which goes toward the Model A Museum. Shirley Isham sent the Cluba memory card of Myrtle Wagoner, sharing Myrtle’s life events from birth. Dana Trimble sent a letterannouncing her resignation from the Club, as she is now working in Santa Cruz.

Committee Reports: President Jack Martin announced that he will call on six different committees forreports at each meeting. Let Jack know ahead of time if you wish to be included at the next GeneralMeeting.

Club Merchandise: Linda Weaver reminded all members that the Club buys jackets for new membersonly. The Board has approved the new Club jackets. The member needs to purchase the emblem patch andpay for the labor for the emblem to be sewed onto the back of the jacket. You can go through Linda Weaverto order the patch and the jacket from Image Imprint.

Tours: Charlie Leffingwell introduced himself and his wife Jan as the new committee chair persons forTours. If you want a Club vest, please contact Jan Leffingwell. Charlie thanked Al and Martha Colquhounfor the wonderful Christmas dinner party. Charlie made a plea for more involvement and to considerbecoming a tour leader this year. He reminded all to write a second check if you have a guest attending atour. Vouchers for reimbursement will be provided for tours and they need to be completed and turned in tothe treasurer at the end of the tour, along with receipts. Marci Schellman spoke of her and Jim Schellman’sCopperopolis tour on April 21, 2018. Meeting place is at 9:00 A.M. at the cheese factory in Oakdale. Lunchwill be at the golf course in Copperopolis. Signup is at the tour table. Jim Kriese announced his and DianneKriese’s Almond Blossom tour on February 24, 2018. We will depart at 10:00 A.M. from Blue Diamond inSalida. Lunch will be at Dust Bowl in Turlock. Sign up is at the tour table. Charlie Leffingwell suggested apoker run tour on May 12, 2018. Info TBA. Charlie gave suggestions of creativity in forming a tour. Therewas the reminder that the Club does not need to pay for every tour. Keith Collins reminded all of the dinnerthat will be provided at the February General Meeting at 6:00 P.M. There is no deposit required and the signup is at the table.

MAFCA: Bob Ott reminded all attending the National Convention in Reno, that it is mandatory to work theraffle. Sign up is at the table. Please collect gifts for the raffle and bring them to Bob.

Roster: Please give all updated information to Linda Mahnke.

Sunshine: Carol Braden mentioned that President Jack Martin’s brother passed away and a card was sent.Cards were also sent to Dave Hansen, Teresa Gissible, Andy Anderson and Rosemay Kenner. Carol sharedthat Bob Ott had reconstruction shoulder surgery.

Scholarship: John Pimentel has applications for high school seniors, graduates of 2018.

Mileage: Janis Martin recognized Gary and Frankie Bundgard for 1000 miles. The pins were awarded.

Vibrator Editor: Al Colquhoun recognized Faye Hill for her excellence as editor of the Vibrator.

Swap Meet: It was announced not to go on Soderquist on Friday or Saturday, as you will get a ticket. KeithCollins spoke of the importance of properly tagged parts or else please have the owner of the parts with you.President Jack Martin spoke of accidents that may occur. If you don’t know where you are, go to the nearestcan lid and report that number on the radio. Jim Kriese reminded all to read the material that was mailed toyou. All the info and rules are in that mailing. Pick up and drop off parts info was discussed. Jim Kriese andKeith Collins spoke of the rules of the Swap. Code Red and 9-1-1 calls were discussed. The emergencynumber is 209-604-6128, which is President Jack Martin’s personal phone. Kevin Nelson will be holding ameeting for his group from North Gate after tonight’s meeting in the back of the meeting room.

Old Business: It was M/S/P by Ron Crum and Stratt Riggs that $800 be donated to Parkview Christian Estates to gotowards their speaker system.

Raffle: Jim Kriese collected a total of $184.00 for the 50/50 raffle. Tina Chircop won $55.00 and MaryDeKasha won $37.00. $92.00 was sent to MAFFI.

Refreshments: President Jack Martin thanked Mary Lou Lucero and Gayle Waters for the refreshmentstonight.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 P.M. by President Jack Martin.
