Services and Music List
February 2019
WELCOME The Christmas and Epiphany season comes to its end in a blaze of light with the Feast of the
Presentation of Christ in the Temple, or Candlemas, on 2 February. The Choristers will sing a
concert of Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols in aid of the Chorister Trust on that day
before the Eucharist and Procession in the evening. Unusually we spend the rest of February in
Ordinary Time, before the onset of Lent in March. For visitor, seeker, listener or worshipper
however, the Cathedral’s music is far from ordinary, raising the song of at least seven centuries
in prayer and praise to the maker of all things.
Please join us when you can.
The Reverend Canon Nicholas Jepson-Biddle, Precentor
Communicant members of other churches in good standing are welcome to receive the Sacrament in
this church if they so desire.

Let us fear and let us love the living God.
Let us love with a sincere heart. Amen.
Words: Antiphon for the Washing of Feet, Maundy Thursday
SUNDAY 17 FEBRUARY
Geistliches Lied (Brahms)
Laß dich nur nichts nicht dauren mit
Trauren,
sei stille, wie Gott es fügt,
so sei vergnügt mein Wille!
Was willst du heute sorgen auf morgen?
Der Eine steht allem für,
der gibt auch dir das Deine.
Sei nur in allem Handel ohn Wandel,
steh feste, was Gott beschleußt,
das ist und heißt das Beste.
Amen.
Do not be sorrowful or regretful;
be calm, as God has ordained,
and thus my will shall be content.
What do you want to worry about from day to
day?
There is One who stands above all
who gives you, too, what is yours.
Only be steadfast in all you do,
stand firm; what God has decided,
that is and must be the best.
Amen.
