We desire brothers and sisters to be faith- ful and generous with us, as well as tolerant of our weaknesses and frailties. Together with peace and self-control, those qualities are the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Those are also the qualities we attribute to our God. The Golden Rule allows us to treat others the way God treats us, with love and compassion even when we do not deserve it. We are to apply the Golden Rule in a proactive way, the way Jesus ministered to people; we are to love our enemies through our actions and our actions are to be blessings. And, as we bless others, God will bless us with abundance. The Golden Rule is to be universally applied and not limited to our family and friends. It places the worth of the person over that of pos- sessions. It is meant to include mercy and for- giveness, since it reminds us of our faults and shortcomings. Hence the Golden Rule can never be a measure of moral superiority; for, in the moment it becomes one, it judges us to the ex- tent we judge others. . …..P2 Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

THEME:

We proclaim God’s

love when we for-

give those who have

wronged us.

WORD:

1SM 26:2, 7-9, 12-13,

22-23; PS 103:1-2, 3-4,

8, 10, 12-13; 1COR

15:45-49; LK 6:27-38

ORDER:

1)The measure you give will be the measure you

get back. (Luke 6:38)

2)Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

(Luke 6:36)

DIRECTION:

1) Do to others as you would have them do to

you.

REFLECTION: “Do to others as you would have them do to

you.” (Lk 6:31)

How do we want others to treat us? Of course,

we want others to respect us, despite our differ-

ences in opinion, belief, color, faith, etc. As char-

ismatic Christians, we hope others look at us

with love, joy, patience, kindness and gentle-

ness. We desire brothers and sisters to be faith-

ful and generous with us,

as well as tolerant of our

weaknesses and frailties.

Together with peace and

self-control, those qualities

are the fruits of the Holy

Spirit. Those are also the

qualities we attribute to

our God.

The Golden Rule allows us

to treat others the way God

treats us, with love and compassion even when

we do not deserve it. We are to apply the

Golden Rule in a proactive way, the way Jesus

ministered to people; we are to love our enemies

through our actions and our actions are to be

blessings. And, as we bless others, God will

bless us with abundance.

The Golden Rule is to be universally applied

and not limited to our family and friends. It

places the worth of the person over that of pos-

sessions. It is meant to include mercy and for-

giveness, since it reminds us of our faults and

shortcomings. Hence the Golden Rule can never

be a measure of moral superiority; for, in the

moment it becomes one, it judges us to the ex-

tent we judge others. .…..P2

Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Living Water - February 22, 2019 2

(Cont’d from P1)

The ability to see others the same way we see our-

selves changes the way we think and act. Self-

knowledge is a very essential topic in all our En-

counter Programs. In fact, it is the first topic. We

need to be aware of ourselves first, to understand

our own thoughts and actions, before we can un-

derstand others. This is the first step to renewing

our mind and attitudes.

When we treat others with the respect we desire,

we treat them as if God were present in them. The

Golden Rule allows Christians to make others ves-

sels of God's presence. The Golden Rule allows us

to experience the Kingdom in action. Let's not de-

lay applying the Golden Rule.

Let us pray: Lord, grant us the grace to see what we

really are, in Your eyes and in Your heart. May we

seek to love others as You love us. Give us the

grace to live in unity and love.

PROMISE:

“Forgive and you will be forgiven.” (Lk 6:37b)

Members’ Blog….How does BLD help you with your spiritual growth?

Interested in contributing your story? Please answer the question above in two or three sentences. Send your stories either by email to: [email protected] or hardcopy to Odette Maralit, or to Fe/Tito Sanchez or to Eden/Jun Mercado.

Here is a featured member’s personal story…….

"I do not have a personal relationship with the Lord before. I go to mass on Sundays only to fulfill my Christian duties up until I joined BLD. I became a part of the several ministries of BLD and each ministry contributed to my spiritual growth but most of all my eyes were opened to the life of Jesus Christ. I began to search His word and study it. Now, I always pray for the guidance in my daily living and I learned to yield to God’s plans for me. I could not go on my daily tasks without asking God to bless my day. I invite you to dwell with me on the beautiful verse of Isiah 45:2 “I will go before you and level the mountains in your life, I will break down the gates of bronze and cut the brass of iron. I will show you the treasures in dark places so that you will know that I am the God of Israel who summon you by name.”....Odette Maralit
