    SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUAR

12:11-21. The final message, on Februa10, will be Standing For The Truth anthe text is found in II Corinthians 13:1-1If you are not involved in a small group

on Sunday evenings, I encourage you join us. Communion is available for thowho desire. Also, remember that we nohave activities for children each Sundaevening.

WEDNESDAYS: I want to remind oparticipants that we will not be meeting feither, the 10 AM or 6:30 PM sessions, oFebruary 6 or 13. We will resume classon February 20. At that time, we will bexamining chapter 4 of Ephesians. We dinvite you to be a part of these studies.

FINAL THOUGHT: It certainly appeathat todays teenagers will have a ha

time telling children of their own what the

    did without!

    THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

I heard it said years ago, that the church is theonly institution that exists with the non-memberin mind. Whether you agree with that statementor not, it seems that many times a churchfellowship becomes solely member-focused.Theres a big danger in that. If a church only

focuses on itself, eventually the church will notexist.

David Platt in his book, Radical, writes We aresettling for a Christianity that revolves aroundcatering to ourselves, when the central messageof Christianity, is actually about abandoningourselves.

In our efforts to be more strategic in reaching the

unchurched of our community, we are makingplans to alter the way we do our second service. These modifications have been prayed about anddiscussed as the elders and staff plan for what weanticipate being an exciting future of FifthAvenue. We will share more about this at ourupcoming congregational meeting on February6th.

We do not know what the future will bring to thischurch. There are no guarantees about anythingwe try to accomplish, but we are called to befaithful! So our mantra will be Whatever ittakes. As Paul wrote Become all things to allmen that we might win some. (1 Cor. 9:22-23)

You may not understand why change isnecessary, but we have to have the mindset thatall people are important enough to save. Thatmeans I must surrender some of my likes inorder for new people to know Jesus. Please pray

for our church daily and may we abandonourselves as we make the church all about Jesus.

    In His Service,Brad

Last week in Childrens Church, w

learned about Noahs Ark. We imagine

what it would be like if one of ouneighbors did something as crazy a

building a huge boat in the back yar

Sometimes we as Christians, do thing

that others think are weird or no

normal. I think that is what God ha

called us to do! We are not of th

world, so why would we act worldly?

Let us do crazy things for Christ!

    SCOTTS THOUGHTS

John 13:34-35 (NIV)34 A new command I give you: Love one anothe

As I have loved you, so you must love oanother. 35 By this everyone will know that yoare my disciples, if you love one another.

We make love a complicated thing at times, anyet at its core it is very simple. When we lovsomeone, their needs become more importathan our own. This finds its fullest expression Gods love for us which was so great that prompted Him to give Jesus so we could saved.

To the unchurched world around us, what are wknown for? Is it the reflection of Gods love? Doe

the world know that we are followers of Chrbecause we love them more than we loourselves?

God has given us the responsibility to go into the world and make disciples. This passage John tells us we will be known as disciplbecause of our love. How are we doing at thprimary job God has given us?

What would our worship gatherings look like if oprimary purpose is holding Jesus high so that Hlove can reach the unchurched around us? Istime to forgo our own comfort so that we migbecome all things to all people that we might wsome?

Jesus left the comfort of heaven and associatewith sinful man so that we might be redeemeHow can we claim to be followers of Christ and n

be willing to go where He leads? Outreach messy. It is uncomfortable. It is our calling.

    Core Values...

Values central to the life, mission and vision o

Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Christ-Centered WorshipWe make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus throug

our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus

through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand thBible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical BalancChurch health becomes reality when God's people seek

harmony & live consistently. We expect every member toprotect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Pete

    3:8)

Global EvangelismWe are constant to our founding call to worldwide

evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the SaviorHealer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and MinistryAfter people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip

them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We waneveryone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27We also want His church to be the living evidence of His lov

    and power to the world.

DiscipleshipWe do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue

Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching yothat Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you artaught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions

Social ConscienceWe place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblic

marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity(Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

    OUR PURPOSE

    WE EXIST TO

    Exalt Gods Greatness;

    Evangelize Gods Work

    Equip Gods People

Express Gods Love through Jesus Christ

    OUR MISSION

To Love God and Love People!

How Can I Respond Today? At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on

all issues. We believe that Gods Word is

clear concerning what a person must do to

    become a Christian.

Trust that Jesus can bring you tosalvation.

Turn (repent) from the sin in yourlife.

Confess your desire to make Jesus theLord of your life.

Be baptized (immersed) in water forthe forgiveness of sins and to receive

the Holy Spirit into your life.

To make this life decision for Christ, we ask

    that youcomeforward during our commitment

song at the conclusion of the Sunday message.

Baptized believers are welcome to become

members at FACC by coming forward on

Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior

Minister to discuss this further. We ask that

youcomplete a series ofCurious classes to help

you better understand what you are

    committing to as a member.
