Vacation Bible School will be held Monday, June 20 -
Friday, June 24. You know what's so neat about that? This
is going to be a great opportunity for YOU. No...don't look around, I am talking to you. Even though this outreach
event is geared toward reaching children and families, it is
also a great opportunity for you to serve and connect with
some great kids. God can use this week to change your
life. In order for this week to be fully blessed by God, we
need servants that are willing to let Him work through
their efforts during this time. You will be receiving a
mailing this week encouraging you to think about offering
yourself for this opportunity. I pray that you will respond
faithfully.
Thank you and God Bless,
Glen Shady

This week I will be concluding our sermon series entitled: “That’s NOT in the Bible.” Over the last three weeks w
have taken a closer look at various phrases that American people believe are in the Bible. Maybe you have besurprised to find out that, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness,” “Always let your conscience be your guide,” and “G
will not put you through more than you can bear,” is not in scripture. This week we will examine WilliaShakespeare’s “To thine own self be true.” I hope you will join us.
Since we will be dealing with being “true” on Sunday, allow me to share a few thoughts on Paul’s writing
Ephesians 6. He said, “Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth.” (Eph. 6: 14)
Of what was Paul speaking? We need to think of the Roman soldier for a moment. The Romans didn’t wear pan
like we do today. Yet look at the prominence Paul gives to their belt. The belt was essential to everything else. Tsoldier’s breastplate was attached to his belt, and so was the sheath for his sword. Therefore if the belt came loosthe soldier could possibly lose his sword and his protective breastplate. So the belt was vitally important. Tha
why Paul put it at the top of the list. To have your belt tightened means you’re ready for battle and ready to move.
What can we take away from this? We need to be on duty at all times. We cannot afford to take a few days off spiritually.
We must keep our armor on at all times, because the moment we take it off is the moment the devil will there to hit us with full force.
Remember the Lord’s promise to His people: “The truth is in Jesus.” (Eph. 4:21) Ask God to show you any
shortage of truth in the way you view yourself and those around you. His Holy Spirit is “the Spirit of truth” (Jn.
14:17) and the Spirit will faithfully reveal this to you.
Have a great week.
Brad, Eph. 3:20-21
