From Your Madam President

Let it snow. . . or maybe not!As I write this February newsletter, it has snowed

outside and I am sure is going to cause a bit of troublefor those who need to go out in this white blanket ofwetness and ice. Take extra caution and be very care-ful as the weather gets colder.

January was filled with a number of activities suchas the District #7 Meeting at Mt. Rainier Aerie inEatonville. The Sisters had 55 Auxiliary membersfrom around the District and the Aerie had 40 mem-bers who attended. The next District #7 Meeting will

be at the Green River Aerie in Black Diamond on Sun-day, February 12. All members are welcome to attend.

We had a great turn out for the Sunnys 4 Castband on Saturday, the 14th of January. Shireen andher helpers did a great job during this night sellingraffle tickets for the Cancer Fund. Two lucky winnerswent home with $50 gas cards. The raffle tickets wereonly $1 each. Thanks to everyone that supported thisfund-raising effort.

Take a look at the calendar for this month. Comeon down to support the Heart Fund Ball on Saturday,February 11 and the Heart Fund Dinner the followingday, February 12 that is being put on by the combinedefforts with the Auxiliary and Aerie Chairmen, CathyMahan and Bernie Gregory.

Please continue to bring your spare change or dol-lars down to the potty on the dance floor forPopes Kids. This money all goes to help care forkids with special needs.

The past month the Auxiliary has initiated eightnew Sisters. Welcome all and please come to ourmeetings and get involved. Our meetings are on thesecond and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30p.m. I hope to see more Sisters at the meetings. Ourwork really cant continue to be accomplished by justthe officers and a few helpful hands. We need manyhands involved and would appreciate the chance toget to know all of you.

Love & Luck, Kathy Crouchet, Madam President

Cake Walk on February 15On Wednesday, February 15, the Auxiliary is having

a Cake Walk for our Rainy Day Fund which we usewhen little things need fixing around our Aerie home.Anyone wanting to donate cakes, cookies, candy, etc.,please bring them down in the evening or just comedown for the Cake Walk and enjoy the fun. The CakeWalk is right after the Aerie meeting.

The term “Mulligan” is really a contraction of thephrase “Maul-it-Again.”

A “Gimme” can best be defined as an agreementbetween two golfers — neither of whom can putt verywell.

Happy New Year to all our Puyallup Eagle Broth-ers and Sisters. We hope that this New Year will be ahealthy and happy one for all of you.

We’ve got so many wonderful trips planned for ourgroup this year starting with a trip to Pacific Beach inFebruary. We will be there the weekend of February3rd through the 6th. It may sound funny, but we havebeen so lucky with the weather in past years. Most ofus bring our trailers/campers/RV and stay in the RVpark overlooking the ocean, while others of us rentone of the houses available just outside of the Navalbase. We go for long walks on the beach, shop in thefew stores in town, use the olympic-sized hot tub, bowl at the local bowling alley on Naval base, ordrive into Ocean Shores to play at the Casino. And inbetween we have potlucks, card playing and watchingthe football games in the local bar. This is our firstouting and it always seems to get us in the mood tostart traveling.

Besides a lot of our standby locations of HarsteneIsland and Rest-A-While Resort, we have alsoplanned a wonderful two-week trip down to Oregon, staying at several new resorts and seeing new territo-ry.Why not join us and come see for yourself how

much fun and companionship we have as a great trav-eling group. We’re always looking for new membersto welcome into our group. If you have any questions

please feel free to contact me (Sheron Mozzone), ourPresident Jay Robinson, or our Wagon Master RayNewby. We’d all be glad to help you with any con-cerns or questions.

Remember that we meet the first Tuesday of eachmonth at 7 p.m. in the hall above the restaurant at thePuyallup Daffodil Eagles. — Sincerely, Sheron Mozzone, Secretary

Texas Hold’emNot all of our changes made everyone happy

Let’s ‘Pull the Cork on Cancer’ March 3

Our first game of the New Year did not go like wethought it would. The majority of players liked thechanges, but then those who didn’t made the loudestnoise. There will be some new changes again on Sun-day, February 12 and then that’s it. No more changesuntil 2013. I guess we will never be able to pleaseeveryone all of the time but not because we don’t try.

We have another player who passed away and it isso sad to lose someone so young. Matt Helman, 33-years-old, has moved on up to play cards with thosewho preceded him. Our heartfelt blessings to his fam-ily.

On a happier note we had 114 players with a pot of$2,850 on Sunday, January 8. The winners are as fol-lows: First, Carl Higgins; second, Scott LaJoye; third,Don Weeks; fourth, Gary Thompson; fifth, Ted Staab;sixth, Ryan Stone; seventh, Vi Barner; eighth, KenOlsen; and ninth, Bryan Boisvert. The final table was

really fun to watch. We have a new start time at noon and you must

sign up by 11:45 a.m. Sorry, we had to turn playersaway. Players have to remember that we are all vol-unteersand we are here for you. Would you like tohelp out at the game? We really need help setting upthe chairs and tables before the game and taking themdown after. We also need help on the floor. Give us acall if you are interested.

Thank you helpers for all your hard work. Thanksalso to Gina, Pam and David Calhoun. Thanks toBryan Boisvert for jumping in and helping with mov-ing the tables and chairs — and he wasn’t even asked. Now that’s a true volunteer.

We hope to see you at the next game on Sunday,February 12 at 12 noon.
