6 AIGLON Fees & Finances 2019 - 2020

• Certainty of funding during your child’s education: An advance payment of a lump sum will ensure that funds are available to pay guaranteed amounts towards future fees.

• Transfer of funds from grandparents’ or parents’ estate: The advance payment of fees by a grandparent or parent removes the monies from the relevant estate. In some cases, this can be a very effective element to death duty planning.

• Fixing exchange rate at date of payment: An advance payment will be converted at the exchange rate applicable on receipt of funds, thereby removing exposure to the risk of future adverse movements in exchange rates.

• A discount is allowed in respect of lump sum payments: Where a lump sum advance payment is made, a discount will be allowed.

• The level of discount will vary according to prevailing interest rates and how far in advance the payment is made.

• Individual quotations will be provided on application.

PARTIAL FUNDINGThe amount of an advance payment does not have to be designed to cover full fees. If appropriate, it can be designed to cover a lesser percentage of the fee, leaving parents to pay the balance as billed. Please note that paying fees in advance does not protect against future fee increases. If the advance fee scheme is of interest, please contact the Deputy Bursar (Finance) by email at: [email protected].

IT IS POSSIBLE TO MAKE a lump sum payment in respect of school fees (minimum of 2 years in advance). The advantages of making such a payment will vary according to individual circumstances, but might include any number of the following:
