AIR-LAID WEB FORMATION

The air-laying process belongs to a group of web formation processes by dry-laying, which use air as conveyance means, from the preparation of the raw material to the web formation system.

The process consists in conveying the fibers, by aerodynamic flows, through perforated rotary rollers or through distribution systems, to form the web and deposit it on a conveyor belt.

ADVANTAGES OF K12Less web weight at the same web

height, or increased web height at the same web weight.

Improved web resilience and elasticity.

Enhanced web precision.

CHARACTERISTICS OF FEHRER K-21 WEBSHighly isotropic and porous structureLofty and good compressional

characteristics.Soft Handle of webs formed.High Absorbency and wicking rate.High thermal resistance.Fibers from 1.7 to 3.3 dtex can be

processed on the K21 to produce webs for hygienic and sanitary applications, for interlinings and basic material for cleaning cloth as well as coating carriers.

13

WORKING OF FEHRER K-21The K21 can follow a roller card or

a combination of roller card and horizontal web laying device.

It is, however, also offered by the manufacturer as an installation together with the pre-web forming device V21/R.

The characteristic feature of the K21 is the use of four successive card cylinders which are each equipped with a pair of working/clearer rollers. 14

WORKING OF FEHRER K-21 A pre-web is fed via a tray feeding device (1) to

the first card cylinder (2). Due to the centrifugal force, this cylinder throws

part of the fibre amount through a fibre guiding channel (3) onto the suction screen belt (4), the majority of the fibres is transferred to the second card cylinder (5).

This is done in an analogous way when transferring the material to the following card cylinders.

A four-layer web is produced, the layers of which are inseparably linked to each other due to the three-dimensional depositing of the fibres.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN FEHRER SYSTEM

V-12RWith 5.4m working widthsIt consists of a smooth pressure

roller, inlet roller, nose bar, picker and a perforated drum with a suction device inside.

The perforated drum can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically, and there is also a suction device underneath the sieve conveyor. 20

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN FEHRER SYSTEM

V-12RWeb forming zone with suction

from both sides, which provides all the benefits derived from isotropy.

Textile waste fibres, synthetic fibres, all natural fibres (e.g. coir, sisal, jute hemp, flax, cotton) and animal fibres, as well as fibre blends can be run on this machine.
