The rich programme of co-curricular activities, academic societies and clubs are hugelyimportant to the personal growth of every Felstedian and help to support the all-roundeducation provided by the School.

It is thanks to the generosity of Old Felstedians, current and past parents and friends thatthe School is able to offer such a diverse range of activities over and above the provisionincluded within the school fees.

Why do we need an Annual Fund?

What is theAnnual Fund Appeal? Thanks to the wonderful generosity of the Felsted community, including Old Felstedians, parents, governors, staff and friends, the Annual Fund has raised £125,000 since 2009. Theaim is to fund smaller projects and equipment for clubs, societies and co-curricular activitiesthat help to enrich the experience of pupils at Felsted. With the proceeds of funds raised,Felstedians have enjoyed excellent new equipment including musical instruments, sportscoaching kit, mobile ICT learning suites, GSM tracking devices for CCF and Duke ofEdinburgh Award Scheme expeditions and a great deal more. The Fund has shown that giftsof any size can genuinely help to broaden the excellent educational provision at the School.

What are we raising money for?● Music, Arts and DramaOpportunities for Felstedians to develop their creative skills continue to flourish, whetherit is performing on stage, playing in our excellent music groups or through outstandingcreative art and design. Funds raised have enabled us to provide a range of equipmentincluding a wide variety of musical instruments, improved stage lighting and soundthroughout Preparatory and Senior School venues and costumes for dance and stageperformances. Equipment required includes further improvement to the Ross Hall, musicalinstruments to allow greater access to learning and an Albion Printing Press for the ArtDepartment.

● Sports and ActivitiesThe Combined Cadet Force, Duke of Edinburgh Award and a robust sporting programmehelp to develop leadership, team and service skills and every pupil is encouraged to enjoyrecreational interests, whilst developing a healthy attitude to fitness and exercise. Ourprofessional sports coaches strive to improve the skills and ambition of pupils through teamand individual sports and the Combined Cadet Force and Duke of Edinburgh Awardscheme are long-standing traditions at Felsted, developing strength of character within each Felstedian. Enhanced play equipment throughout the Pre-Preparatory and PreparatorySchools continues to bring challenge through activity. Examples of equipment neededinclude a scrum machine and Colours for the CCF.

● Science and TechnologyScience and creative technology provide an inspiring way of engaging pupils to learn andengage in the world around us. As an Apple Regional Training Centre, we have increasinglyutilised this technology to enhance learning in the classroom and through co-curricularactivities. The versatility of the iPods, iPads and Mac Books purchased through the AnnualFund can be seen in their diverse application ranging from musical composition and editingfilm to improving coaching techniques in sport. Felsted has a history of producing greatscientists and the science department regularly run co-curricular activities to inspire aninterest in the subject. Funding will continue to enhance the use of technology and scientificexploration.

● Social and InternationalFelsted’s social activities help to develop life skills and promote responsibility and awarenessof global issues. The Felsted Model United Nations engages students from around the worldin debating, discussing and attempting to solve the world’s greatest issues during a livelyweekend at the School. Our partnerships with the Magic Bus Charity, Felsted School Mission,Felsted Alms Houses and membership of the Round Square group of schools provide a local, national and international engagement with the deepest needs within society. Examples inwhich the Annual Fund will support this include improved sound and recording equipmentto facilitate the debates and means-tested bursary support for pupils who would nototherwise be able to participate in trips.
