As the micro-irrigation systems like drip/sprinkler are mainly adopted in horticulture crops, studies were initiated on major horticultural crops with the objective of evaluating the response of the crops to different combinations of water soluble fertilizers in increasing the yield and quality of the produce apart from clogging of the system. The highlights of the research conducted on horticultural crops are furnished hereunder.

1 Fertigation in grapes  Application of 350:250:600 g NPK/vine in the form of water soluble fertilizers from the second

year on-wards through fertigation at fortnightly intervals is recommended for Bangalore Blue variety of grapes for getting maximum productivity, improved quality and high returns.

2 Fertigation in sapota  Application of 320:130:360 g NPK/tree/year being 80 per cent of the recommended dose of

fertilizers through fertigation in the form of WSF at monthly interval could be recommended for bearing trees (of more than ten year old trees) for getting higher productivity and quality of sapota fruits.

3 Fertigation in potato.  Application of 125:125:150 kg NPK/ha in the form of water soluble fertilizers through fertigation at

fortnightly intervals is recommended for potato for getting maximum marketable yield of tubers and returns.

4 Studies on fertigation in tomato under cost effective greenhouse.  Application of 350:350:350 kg NPK/ha in the form of water soluble fertilizers through fertigation at

fortnightly intervals is recommended for getting maximum productivity and best quality of tomato under cost effective greenhouse.

5 Studies on fertigation in capsicum under cost effective greenhouse.  Application of 300:300:300 kg NPK/ha in the form of water soluble fertilizers through fertigation at

fortnightly intervals is recommended for getting maximum productivity and best quality of capsicum under cost effective greenhouse.

6 Fertigation in coconut.  Application of 500:320:1200 g NPK/palm/year through fertigation at monthly intervals in the form

of water soluble fertilizers is recommended for coconut for getting high productivity and returns.7 Fertigation in cardamom.  Application of 75:75:150 kg NPK/ha. in the form of water soluble fertilizers (granular) through

fertigation is recommended for cardamom to get high productivity and returns.8 Fertigation in cashew  Application of 400:100:100 g NPK /tree/year in the form of water soluble fertilizers through

fertigation in four splits/year is recommended for getting higher productivity of not only scion material but also the nut yield and higher returns.

9 Fertigatin in coffee.  Application of 240:240:240 kg NPK /ha in the form of water soluble fertilizers (WSF) through

fertigation in four equal splits is recommended to get higher productivity and returns from Robusta coffee.

10 Fertigation in geranium.  Soil application of 200:35:35 kg NPK/ha in the form of normal fertilizers at monthly intervals with

sprinkler irrigation is recommended to get highest yield of (91 l/ha.) essential oil and net returns (Rs. 1,57,371/ha.) from geranium.

11 Fertigation in rosemary

Application of 80:32:32 kg NPK/ha in the form of water soluble fertilizers along with 0.5 per cent Zinc and 0.5 per cent Boron through fertigation at monthly intervals is recommended to get maximum essential oil yield (408 l/ha.) and high returns (Rs. 1,06,967/ha.) of rosemary.

12 Fertigation in tuberose.  Application of 80:40:40 kg NPK /ha in the form of water soluble fertilizers along with 0.1 per cent

Boron through sprinkler fertigation at monthly intervals is recommended to get maximum yield of flowers (1,165 kg /ha/.) concrete (24.96 kg /ha.) and net returns (Rs. 3,46,887/ha.) from tuberose.

13 Fertigation in gerbera  Application of 12:8:25 g NPK /m2/month in the form of water soluble fertilizers through fertigation

at weekly intervals is recommended to get maximum flower yield 17,880 flowers /100 m2and returns (Rs. 29,150 /100m2) from gerbera.

14 Fertigation in carnation  Application of 200:80:160 g NPK /m2 in the form of water soluble fertilizers through fertigation at

fortnightly intervals is recommended to get maximum flower yield (26,838 flowers / 100 m2 and returns (Rs. 72,213/100 m2 ) from carnation.
