The Moodle Educator Certification Program (MEC) is designed for teachers, instructors, and trainers who:
▪ seek certification and recognition for their mastery of teaching and learning goals and of the Moodle platform
▪ want to develop their knowledge of essential educational digital competencies required of today’s educators
▪ wish to use Moodle in new and innovative ways via step-by-step Moodle learning guides and video tutorials

WIDE Foundation program
The WIDE Foundation program has
a spiral form, with increasing levels of
difficulty and two distinct phases.
The first phase has a guided-
discovery character and the second
one is focused on the designing and
implementation of an educational
project.
The final product of these two phases
is the creation and running of a
Moodle course.
WIDE Foundation program – First phase
The first phase aims to enable learners
to learn
• the basic Moodle properties,
• basic e-learning pedagogy concepts
• and the basic concepts included in
the MEC Foundation certificate.
We also have created an optional
Advanced Course for those learners
who want to become more familiar with
Moodle's more complex properties.

We have the following matching:
WIDE Foundation program – First phase
During this phase, learners are guided with step-by-step instructions to complete the first Design Challenge of each MEC
module with content they have selected.
Here it is a requirement that in addition to creating the activities, learners should also act both as "students" (we have created
fake-students to play the role) and "teachers" to interact with the fake-students. Our goal is to give learners a complete picture
of how to successfully create and run a Moodle course.
For every DC submission, learners receive detailed feedback from us on what they achieved and what they need to improve in
order to obtain the desired grade. We allow two submissions and only if needed, a third one, in order for the minimum
requirement to be achieved if possible.
After this process learners have the knowledge and experience to continue independently.
WIDE Foundation program – Second phase
In the second phase we are asking learners to design the
other DCs, by taking into account the most complex
requirements of each module, use all Moodle's core tools
and create a complete Moodle course.
Here learners are again asked to act both as teachers
and students in order to run a complete Moodle course
and become familiar with more advanced Moodle
processes (course completion, useful blocks, reporting
etc.).
Learners should also apply the basic principles of each
module throughout the Moodle course that they develop
rather than only on the DC of the respective module.
WIDE Foundation program – Rounds
In the first round, 13 of our learners
completed the Foundation Level
Digital Competence certificate. They
created completed courses in their
specialty and now use them with
their students on their own websites.
The third round started in 25
November 2019
The second round is expected to be
completed in early December.
WIDE Foundation program – Basic Program
The Basic Program is designed for those who want to learn
Moodle without expanding on Moodle's educational
approaches. In this program, participants will learn and become
familiar with the basic tools and functions of Moodle.
At the same time, they will practice and create their own content on
their Moodle environment that will be provided by widetraining.gr.
During the program, the certified educators facilitate learners to
design the required assignments in their subject area of interest,
and guide them to implement them at the highest level.

WIDE STEM Teaching in Moodle
The “STEM Teaching in Moodle” course has
as its primary purpose to give to every
participant the opportunity to learn,
familiarize, with Moodle tools that serve the
particular educational needs of STEM
coursework. The second and most important
purpose is to give participants the opportunity
to produce their own educational content by
applying the knowledge they have gained.

WIDE Gamification in Moodle
The ”Gamification in Moodle” course has as
its primary purpose to give to every participant
the opportunity to learn and familiarize with
Moodle tools that are appropriate for
Gamification. The second and most important
purpose is to give participants the opportunity to
produce their own gamified-educational content
by applying the knowledge they have gained.
