Message from the Director

We are proud to present our 2009 Yearbook which introduces our multinational group of students who are about to complete their MBA at FIA Business School.

The FIA MBA offering follows rigorous international standards, and is accredited by AMBA- The Association of MBAs. It builds on a tradition of excellence created by our International Executive MBA since 1992, ranked number 29 in the Americas and involving among the five most experienced student bodies in the world, according the 2008 Financial Times Rankings.

These International MBA students build on this experience, making up a multicultural diverse group, where 50% of the students come from other countries besides Brazil, including the USA, Mexico, France, India, Italy, Ukraine, Peru and Colombia. It is a dynamic, enterprising, hardworking and creative group, with an average of 31 years of age and over 7 years work experience in a broad range of industries and countries.

We are confident that this is a talented group of young people who will move forward and deploy their management skills to make a significant contribution to the companies and organizations in which they work.

They have had exposure to the most modern management theories, with many practical sessions presented by working executives, and lectures by top faculty from FIA and our partner universities in the USA, Europe and Asia.

I feel confident that this is an excellent group in which to find new and valuable talent for your organization. Please feel free to contact me or to get in touch directly with any of our prospective graduates in this class.

Yours sincerely,

James WrightDirector - International MBAFIA Business SchoolFundação Instituto de Administração

My Chinese heritage taught me discipline and patience, my American education which taught me ethics and the value of hard work, and my Brazilian upbringing which taught me creativity and personal inter-relationships. I have always worked in developing myself in areas to give added value, quality and innovation to the teams I have worked in. I have planned my career to have a broad vision of a company’s activities and its importance to reach the goals and established objectives. I started working at early age with two summer jobs at the Club Med Hotels as a member of the recreational team in the Kids Club. Next step was to work at the financial department at an intern in the Blue Tree Hotels and Resorts. As a MBA assistant I had opportunity to learn and gain a strategic business point of view and establish a solid network with top executives registered in the program. I also had an unique experience working in restructuring the FEA’s (Business School) social program called PESC. The project would unite students’ newly acquired knowledge with NGO that needed professional help. At TV Globo, biggest media conglomerate, I learned about brand image. It was important to understand how investment to have a strong brand has positive long-term results. Finally, at Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, as part of the international trainee program, I worked directly with the Vice-President for Government Affairs and Human Resources. I was highly exposed to strategic matters and constant contact with board members. Learned about the importance of government affairs and value of human resources. Career ObjectiveAfter graduation, I am looking myself as a Strategy and Business Development Consultant in IT consulting firm. Why again IT Consulting firm! I think after working in leading IT consulting company for the last five years, I wanted to keep stay in the sector in which I’d built up so much expertise. But at the same time, I don’t want to do the things in repeated manner, instead I wanted my career to have more diversity and a wider impact. As a technical consultant, I was able to offer a very good understanding of technology and business, with cost effective solution, I have strong communication and people management skills, analytical thinking and visualize the big picture behind things. Having all this past experience in a truly global business process, I think I can contribute my knowledge in business development process for the further growth of an IT market like Brazil. In order to achieve this, I look towards a service organization, to be part of the leading partners in ERP systems. I wish to assist with the identification of the impacts and requirements for the business processes to support the organization with “To-Be” vision.
