President’s Signals

August 2016

Hello Everyone!

Here we are in the height of Hurricane season and have our first tropical storm in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Thankfully, It is not headed our way. Unfortunately, that means someone else will be affected. We have been lucky in the New Orleans area. We haven’t had a major hurricane since Katina, eleven years ago, nor any major flooding as we saw last month. As an emergency responder I try to be prepared for any incident, but sometimes we get complacent. We must be prepared. We must have an emergency plan. Protect your important documents, take what you can and leave the area. In the end our lives depend on it. I have never willingly left the area due to a weather event (Hurricane Georges in 1998 is the only one) and have worked through the storms and their aftermath, but now I find myself in a time in my life where I have to leave to survive. Our plan is to take both vehicles, loaded with everything we can carry, and head north to Southaven, MS. Where a friend has offered shelter and my medical needs can be met. Think about it, talk about it, where will you go? Now, on to more pleasant things, I would like to welcome Coop & Carolyn Barrios, of Belle Chasse to the club. They have a beautiful Shark Grey Stingray Coupe (I’m kind of partial to this color!). Please make them feel welcome! I would like to thank Gordon & Carolyn Willhoft for hosting a “thank You” dinner for everyone who helped put on an exceptional “Legends” car show this year! While I was hospitalized at the time, I didn’t have to worry because I knew Gordon had everything under control! Our 2017 show will be held on March 4

th at

Boomtown and I hope Gordon would agree to chair this one as well. Please support the activities that are listed in this newsletter. The Pensacola “Vettes at the Beach” show is always a winner. The BBQ, Wine & Hill Country Tour is shaping up to be one of Felix’s finest. We will be returning to Angola (just to visit). “The Best of the Bayou” show in Houma is always a good time. Add to these GNOCC, MGCCC and NSCC shows are events that we need to support! Enjoy your Corvettes!

Wave at ‘em. Wave even if they don’t wave back. They might not know any

better.

This is from 8/21/16. NCRS judging meet in

Broussard LA. Callaway scored really well

and received its second Top Flight award.

Judging on the NCRS system is always a

challenge and also a learning experience.

Only a handful of Corvettes are usually

judged and many are very unique, historic,

special editions that might never be seen

except in museums or magazines like

restored C1s or a split window '63. Then

there are the beasts we grew up reading

about like the L-88 and ZL-1. Yes all of them

came from the '60s and '70s including the

ZR-1, LT-1, and the ZO6.

CCCC members always welcome to come see, we always promise a very interesting experience and lots to eat.

We all have friends and family members who have been affected by the

flooding in East Baton Rouge/Livingston/Tangipahoa Parishes. My

daughter lost a vehicle to the flood waters. Many members of our

Corvette family lost cars and even homes. Some were more fortunate.

Members Mac Besnard and Karen Bedell were surrounded by water,

but had no damage.

I have never been more proud to be a member of Crescent City Corvette

Club as I was at our August meeting when a collection for our members

Bob & Virginia Huffman. Bob & Virginia had 2.5 feet of water in their

house and lost their Corvette and a brand new Buick LaCrosse. This was

the second time for them as they lost everything during Katrina.

Elisha & I drove to Denham springs last weekend to present to them a

check for $2100.00. They had tears of joy in their eyes asked us to pass

on their thanks to the club. They plan to express their thankfulness once

things slow down a bit.

Luckenbach, TX will have that opportunity. If you have, have another one.

Who knows, Willie, Whalen and the boys might be there….Dinner is

Windshield Chip Protection - Finally found a solution

While at Corvettes at Carlisle, I visited the Bray Group's Windshield Skin tent. I've been looking for a

windshield protection solution and think I've found just what I've been looking for. They said they have

installers on the east and west coasts, a few in other places, and are working on training more installers

around the country. I thought some of you might want to look into this product. If you contact them, let

them know you are a forum member and encourage them to become a supporting vendor.

Quote:

Bray is a true Windshield Skin® safety product vastly different than any product you buy off the shelf.

Don't be fooled by copycat products that are simply graffiti or safety film, it may look similar, but it's

nothing like Bray. Bray Windshield Skin® has been developed and made for one purpose, windshield

protection. It's a true technology development for windshield safety.

Bray Group has re-invented windshield protection. Bray developed a new patent-pending, 2-layer

Windshield Skin® system that comes with a laminated BaseSkin and an ultra thin TopSkin which is

designed to be replaced as needed. The BaseSkin remains on the vehicle and only the replaceable TopSkin

has to be replaced for on-going maintenance.

This eliminates the expensive replacement of the complete product. Bray Windshield Skin® makes all the

world's vehicles safer to drive. Due to its 2-layer technology damaged material can be fixed in a matter of

seconds. For example, if you drive behind a truck and your windshield gets multiple impact nicks from

rocks, or caught in a sand storm and the windshield becomes scratched causing low visibility, simply pull

TopSkin layer off your Windshield Skin® and "presto" no more scratches. (see replacement warranty)

2 Layer System

Bray's new 2 Layer Windshield Skin System employs a 2 layer 6h hard-coat material along with a free 18

month No-Scratch Warranty program that provided a free 2 layer material replacement, no question

asked. Optional 3 and 5 year No-scratch upgrade programs are available.

1 layer System

Bray Eco Skin providing a entry level windshield protection system. Bray's 1 layer system is a cost

effective entry point into windshield protection. Optional Bray Ceramic Hard Coat treatment and Bray

Super Hydro maintenance is available for purchase

Stackable SYSTEM

Bray Race Skin 2-4-6 stackable system is a unique stackable material that comes with the highest durable

hard coat in the automotive race industry. The new 6h multi-layer RaceSkin lasts up to 9 times longer

than previous race protection

How many of us have replaced a windshield!
