La cita (6-9 febrero) crece un 31% en oferta y superficie y confirma sus mejores expectativas

• La bienal regresa a los niveles precrisis y reunirá a 466 expositores directos y una oferta de 783 firmas y marcas internacionales de 15 países en una superficie expositiva de 61.000 m2.

• Apuesta internacional: FIMMA- Maderalia organiza misiones comerciales procedentes de 20 países especialmente de la zona del Magreb, Europa y Latinoamérica.

Feria Valencia acogerá desde el martes 6 al viernes 9 de febrero la mayor edición de los últimos años de FIMMA – Maderalia, la gran bienal española de materiales, componentes y tecnología para la industria del mueble, madera e interiorismo. La cita regresa a sus niveles anteriores a la crisis con un escaparate de 466 empresas expositoras directas y una oferta total de 783 firmas y marcas internacionales, lo que supone un crecimiento superior al 30% respecto a la última edición. FIMMA – Maderalia se celebrará conjuntamente con Cevisama (5-6 febrero). Destaca, en este sentido, la fuerte presencia de empresas expositoras extranjeras, con un 28% del total del escaparate y presencia de firmas de 15 países, lideradas por expositores de Italia, seguidos por firmas de Alemania, Portugal, Austria y Francia. Completa la oferta expositores procedentes de Bélgica, Brasil, Bulgaria, Estados Unidos, Irlanda, Países Bajos, Reino Unido, República Checa y Turquía. Con ello, FIMMA – Maderalia reunirá la más relevante oferta nacional e internacional tanto de productos de madera, materiales y componentes para muebles como de tecnología, maquinaria y software para una industria que muestra ya claros síntomas de recuperación. Impulso a la recuperación sectorial De hecho, según el Observatorio Español del Mercado del Mueble del Instituto Tecnológico AIDIMME, el sector de proveedores registró el pasado año un crecimiento del 2’6% en su actividad y encadena ya cuatro ejercicios consecutivos al alza. Además, las exportaciones de manufacturas de madera crecieron también un 10’1% de enero a noviembre del pasado año, según cifras del ICEX, consolidando la mejora de un sector que en España factura más de 6.000 millones de euros al año y emplea a 48.000 trabajadores. Por su parte, el sector de fabricantes de maquinaria y tecnología para la madera también registra una evolución positiva con una cifra de negocio anual superior a los 350 millones de euros, según apunta la patronal AFEMMA. La exportación es clave para las 120 empresas españolas de este sector ya que el 75% de sus ventas son al extranjero. La próxima edición de FIMMA – Maderalia, en este sentido, evidenciará el bueno tono de estos sectores que esperan obtener un impulso a su negocio con la presencia un perfil de visitante muy

técnico y especializado y que abarcará desde el carpintero al instalador, arquitecto, fabricante de muebles, diseñador o prescriptor. Importante presencia de compradores del Magreb Además, la feria consolida su apuesta internacional como plataforma para la exportación con la llegada la próxima semana de diversas misiones comerciales procedentes de los mercados extranjeros más interesantes para los expositores. Una de las más destacadas y numerosas será una misión procedente de los países del Magreb y Oriente Medio (Marruecos, Argelia, Túnez, Libia y Líbano), seguida de compradores de Latinoamérica de países como Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, Perú, Ecuador y Guatemala. También será destacada la presencia confirmadas de compradores de Europa, especialmente de Portugal, Italia, Alemania, Bélgica, Bulgaria, Francia, Suecia y Suiza. En total se esperan más de medio millar de compradores extranjeros especialmente invitados a la feria, a los que hay que sumar los que ya han confirmado su visita por cuenta propia y los profesionales de otros países que acudan a Cevisama y aprovechen su visita para ver la oferta de FIMMA – Maderalia en virtud de las sinergias que se establecen entre los tres certámenes. Más de 61.000 m2 de exposición, un millar de novedades y Con todo, FIMMA -Maderalia se prepara para una gran edición en la que los expositores presentarán más de un millar de novedades a lo largo de los más de 61.000 metros cuadrados de superficie expositiva estructurado en cuatro grandes pabellones: el pabellón 8 y el nivel 2 del pabellón 7 para FIMMA y el nivel 3 de los pabellones 6 y 7 para toda la zona de Maderalia. Además, junto a la oferta comercial la feria ha preparado un intenso programa de actividades paralelas con una muy destacada presencia de arquitectos y prescriptores internacionales como el japonés Shuichi Kobari del estudio de Toyo Ito, el portorriqueño Héctor Ruiz o los españoles Jose María Tomás, Ramón Esteve, Daniel Solves, Juan Bláquez o César Ruiz-Larrea, que participarán en un programa de conferencias en torno al diseño, la arquitectura y los nuevos materiales para los proyectos contract. Además, FIMMA – Maderalia acogerá distintas iniciativas como un foro contract de empresas y profesionales de puertas automáticas, una serie de conferencias y actividades en torno a la madera y su uso como material para la arquitectura y construcción promovido por AEIM o una instalación ‘Easy Contract’ diseñada por el arquitecto valenciano Ramón Esteve y que recreará distintas estancias de un vanguardista hotel urbano utilizando materiales cedidos por los propios expositores. También será destacada la visita a la feria de personajes como el mediático ‘MasterChef’ Pepe Rodríguez, que presentará una nueva colección de herrajes.

Biennial timber, wood and machinery fair returns to pre-crisis levels and will be bringing 466 direct exhibitors together with an offering from783 international brands and manufacturers from 15 countries, laid out over 61,000m2 of exhibition space.

From Tuesday 6th to Friday 9th February, Feria Valencia will be hosting the biggest edition of FIMMA – Maderalia of recent years. Spain’s great biennial fair for materials, components and technology for the furniture, wood and interior design industries will be housed in Pavilions 6, 7 and 8. The fair is returning to pre-crisis levels with a showcase comprising 466 direct exhibitors and a total offering from 783 international manufacturers and brands – a 30% increase over the figure for the last edition of the fair. FIMMA – Maderalia runs concurrently with CEVISAMA (5-6 February).

The proportion of foreign exhibitors that make up these figures is impressive: 28% of the total showcase consists of foreign exhibitors, hailing from 15 countries, with Italy in the lead, followed by companies from Germany, Portugal, Austria and France. Completing the picture are exhibitors from Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Holland, Ireland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. FIMMA – Maderalia will as a result be gathering the most representative offering from Spain and the rest of the world of both wood-related products, materials and furniture components and technology, machinery and software for an industry that is now showing clear signs of recovery

Driving the industry’s recovery

Indeed, according to the Spanish Observatory for the Furniture Market, which is part of the AIDIMME Institute of Technology, the supply sector last year recorded 2.6% growth, meaning it has now been growing for four years. In addition, exports of processed timber also grew last year: by 10.1% from January to November according to figures published by ICEX, consolidating an upward trend in an industry that turns over more than 6,000 million euros a year and employs 8,000 workers.

The machinery and technology for the timber/wood sectors, for their part, have also made progress, with an annual turnover above 350 million euros, according to trade association AFEMA. Exporting is pivotal for 120 Spanish companies in these sectors as 75% of their sales are abroad. The upcoming edition of FIMMA- Maderalia will therefore reflect the positive mood of these industries, which are hoping to receive a boost to their businesses from a highly technical visitor profile that ranges from carpenters to installers, architects, furniture makers, designers and specifiers.

Substantial presence of buyers from North Africa.

The fair is also consolidating its commitment to become an increasingly international platform for exports: next week, at the fair’s invitation, trade missions will be arriving from the foreign markets

that are the exhibitors’ prime targets. One of the most notable of these and one of the biggest groups, is the mission from North Africa and the Middle East (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and the Lebanon). The next biggest group is of buyers from Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Guatemala). There will also be a significant contingent from Europe, with buyers from Portugal, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Sweden and Switzerland in particular having confirmed they will be attending,

More than 61,000 m2 of exhibition space, plus new products and international architects

All in all, FIMMA – Maderalia is getting set for an outstanding edition at which exhibitors will be showing more than a thousand new products across more than 61,000 square metres of exhibition space, spread across four huge pavilions: pavilion 8 and level 2 of pavilion 7 are dedicated to FIMMA, whilst level 3 of pavilions 6 and 7 are housing Maderalia. Wireless systems built in to furniture for charging mobile phones, wood that neither gets wet nor burns, anti-theft locks and 4th generation technology adapted to the industry are just some of the new products exhibitors have announced.

As well as the commercial content of the fair the organizers have put together an extensive programme of parallel events that involves a very significant number of international architects and specifiers, including Japanese architect Shuichi Kobari of Toyo Ito, Puerto Rican architect Héctor Ruiz and Spanish architects and designers Jose María Tomás, Ramón Esteve, Daniel Solves, Juan Bláquez and César Ruiz-Larrea, who will be speaking as part of the series of lectures on design, architecture and the new materials for contract projects.

FIMMA – Maderalia is also hosting other initiatives including a forum about the contract sector for automatic door manufacturers and professionals, a series of lectures and activities, arranged by AEIM and themed on wood and its use in architecture and construction and an ‘Easy contract’ installation designed by Valencian architect Ramón Esteve that will replicate different rooms in an avant garde city hotel using materials donated by exhibitors. ‘MasterChef’ and media sensation Pepe Rodríguez will add an extra dimension to the fair, too, when he visits to launch a new set of locks.

Sistemas ‘wireless’ para cargar móviles en muebles, maderas que no se mojan ni queman, cerraduras antirrobo o maquinaria y tecnología adaptada a la industria 4.0… Estas son algunas de las más de mil novedades e innovaciones que presentarán desde el próximo 6 al 9 de febrero las más de 750 firmas y marcas internacionales que se darán cita en Feria Valencia en una histórica edición de FIMMA – Maderalia. Y es que la gran bienal de materiales, complementos, maquinaria y tecnología para el sector del mueble, madera, carpintería, interiorismo y decoración no solo reunirá a los principales operadores del sector sino que se convierte en el gran escaparate de las innovaciones y novedades que marcarán el futuro más próximo de estos sectores.

Materiales sostenibles para sentir la madera

Así, en el ámbito de los materiales, Maderalia presentará novedades como la nueva Madera Recompuesta Hidrófuga (MRH), un contrachapado resistente al fuego, puertas irrompibles, materiales naturales reproducidos con impresión digital, puertas acorazadas que protegen de robo, del ruido y de los cambios de temperatura o paneles para reforma, de instalación rápida, en 3D. También destacarán productos como grandes formatos de lama en el suelo de corcho, cilindros anti-bumping y anti-ganzúa o sensores de presencia incorporados a las regletas de Led, entre otros. Todo ello en búsqueda de dar un salto en el interiorismo y en las soluciones para las reformas. Como piezas de madera que ocultan elegantes muebles, manillas que visten puertas y puertas que visten hogares, paredes que se convierten en muebles o un sistema ‘wireless’ para cargar móviles en los propios muebles.

El objetivo es que la madera vuelva a estar de moda. Ver, tocar y sentir la madera se convierte en el elemento clave para una experiencia placentera. Y para ello es indispensable nuevas soluciones en recubrimientos que se podrán ver en la próxima edición de FIMMA – Maderalia. Como recubrimientos para optimizar la reacción al fuego de la madera, el uso del alto brillo en impresión digital, la personalización de productos basados en tableros decorativos de melamina, barnices poliuretánicos para madera biológicos, acabados pigmentados súper resistentes al rayado, superficies súper mate, anti huella y auto regenerativas, pavimentos de exterior en colores “vintage” o tintas minerales sobre la madera

En este ámbito también destacarán automatismos innovadores, como un sistema motorizado y a control remoto de apertura y cierre de persianas de gran formato, soluciones para montar los muebles en tiempo récord, estanterías cantiléver también para la pyme, guías invisibles en los armarios o bisagras ocultas para puertas enrasadas.

Procesos más eficientes. Tecnología más conectada

Los expositores de FIMMA propondrán procesos y tecnologías de mecanizado más sostenibles y, sobre todo, adaptados a los nuevos requerimientos de la industria 4.0. Destacarán, en este sentido, procesos como el secado del barniz del parquet mediante LED, sistemas muy flexibles en el taladrado, fresado e inserción de herrajes, mecanizados de tableros sin CNC o el taladrado en horizontal de las piezas cortadas mediante nesting.

Todo ello se consigue a través de maquinaria innovadora que se presentará en Feria Valencia como completos centros de mecanizado en cinco metros cuadrados, mesas de flotación de aire rotatorias en la seccionadora, mesa multifuncional y consolas porta ventosas en un único CNC, avanzados desarrollos técnicos en las áreas de laminado, recubrimiento, barnizado e impresión digital o aserraderos portátiles para procesar troncos pequeños.

Wireless’ mobile phone charging systems built in to furniture, wood that neither gets wet nor burns, anti-theft locks and 4.0 generation adapted machinery and technology...these are just some of the 1000-plus new products and innovations that will be on show from 6th to 9th February, devised by more than 750 international companies and brands set to gather at Feria Valencia at an historic edition of FIMMA – Maderalia.

The fact is that the celebrated biennial fair for materials, accessories, machinery and technology for the furniture, timber, carpentry, interior design and decorating sectors will not only be bringing the main players in the industry together but is also poised to be the great showcase for innovations and new products ever, marking the way forward for these sectors over the short to medium term.

Sustainable man-made materials that feel like wood

As regards materials, Maderalia is showing new developments such as the new Water-Resistant Reconstituted Wood (MRH/WRW), a fire-resistant plywood, unbreakable doors, natural materials reproduced by digital printing, armoured doors that protect against theft, noise and temperature changes and quick–to-install panels for use in refurbishment projects. Other stand-out products are large format slats for cork floors, anti-bumping and anti-pick lock cylinders and presence sensors built in to Led strip lights, amongst others.

All of the above mark a leap forward in interior design and refurbishment solutions, as do pieces of wood that hide elegant furniture, handles that dress doors and doors that dress homes, walls turned into pieces of furniture, and a wireless system for charging mobile phones built into the furniture itself.

The aim is to make wood fashionable again, where seeing, touching and smelling wood is key to a pleasant experience. New solutions in coatings are crucial if this aim is to be achieved and these will be on show at this upcoming edition of FIMMA-Maderalia. Including coatings that optimize the wood’s reaction to fire, the use of high sheen finishes in digital printing, customization of products

by using decorative melamine tops, organic polyurethane wood varnishes, super scratch-resistant pigmented finishes, super-matt, non-marking and self-regenerating finishes, exterior flooring in “vintage” colours and mineral inks for use on wood.

Other eye-catching exhibits include innovative automation devices such as a motorized, remote-controlled opening and closing system for large format blinds, solutions for assembling furniture in record time, cantilever shelving that is ideal for small premises, invisible wardrobe runners and hidden hinges for flush doors.

Processes that are more efficient. Technology that is more connected

FIMMA’s exhibitors will be revealing more sustainable mechanized processes and technologies adapted to the new 4.0 generation industry requirements. The most notable of these are processes such as drying parquet varnish using LED, ultra-flexible systems for drilling, grinding and inserting fittings, mechanized systems for cutting board without CNC machines and systems for drilling horizontally by nesting.

All of the above comes in the form of innovative machinery on show at Feria Valencia including complete machining centres within five square metres, rotary air flotation tables for sawing units, multi-function tables and single circuit CNC vacuum consoles, advanced technical developments in lamination, coatings, varnishes, digital printing and portable sawmills for processing small tree trunks.

FIMMA MADERALIA REÚNE A DESTACADOS ARQUITECTOS INTERNACIONALES EN TORNO A LA MADERA Y EL CONTRACT

• Profesionales como Shuichi Kobari del estudio de Toyo Ito, Héctor Ruiz, Jose María Tomás, Ramón Esteve, Daniel Solves, Juan Bláquez o César Ruiz-Larrea participarán en un programa de conferencias en torno al diseño, la arquitectura y los nuevos materiales para los proyectos contract.

El uso de la madera como elemento versátil y sostenible para proyectos de contract así como la búsqueda de nuevos materiales, más innovadores y tecnológicamente adaptados protagonizarán el intenso ciclo de conferencias que se celebrarán en el marco de la próxima edición de FIMMA – Maderalia, del 6 al 9 del próximo mes de febrero en Feria Valencia. Para ello, el certamen contará con la presencia de prescriptores internacionales de primera línea que participarán en los distintos foros y conferencias que se celebrarán a lo largo de los cuatro días de certamen.

Una de las actividades más destacadas será el Encuentro Contract Sostenible que se celebrará en la tarde del jueves 8 de febrero en la sala de conferencias del Foro Maderalia (N3P7). Allí, un destacado grupo de profesionales de la arquitectura, el interiorismo y el diseño junto con empresas como Häfele, Faus, Ica, Emedec, Sonae Arauco y Alvic presentarán de forma dinámica ejemplos prácticos de cómo la madera se convierte en material indispensable para una arquitectura sostenible y que conjugan belleza y rentabilidad como visión para el creciente sector del contract. Participarán en este encuentro, que cuenta con la organización del Grupo Vía, los arquitectos José María Tomás, Juan Blázquez, Daniel Muñoz, Daniel Solbes, César Ruiz Larrea, Héctor Ruiz Velázquez y Ramón Esteve.

Precisamente el arquitecto valenciano firma otro de los grandes proyectos estrella de la próxima edición de FIMMA – Maderalia. Se trata de la muestra ‘Easy Contract’, en la que Ramón Esteve recreará en el centro del Pabellón N3P6 distintos espacios y habitaciones de un hotel urbano, a través de una arquitectura singular y utilizando los materiales y procesos más innovadores que actualmente se pueden encontrar en el mercado. En este proyecto ha contado con la participación de firmas expositoras como Sonae Arauco, Grupo Alvic, Faus, Viters, Bariperfil, Emedec, Puricelli, Thyssen Krupp Plastic Ibérica, Arkos Light y Revert Contract. A esta nómina de arquitectos se suman otros nombres muy destacados dentro del panorama internacional y que no quieren perderse la próxima cita de FIMMA – Maderalia. Es el caso del arquitecto japonés Shuichi Kobari,

perteneciente al estudio del premio Pritzker Toyo Ito y que, de mano de la firma italiana Olivari, impartirá una conferencia la tarde del miércoles 7 de febrero en el marco del ciclo de conferencias de Olivari en torno al diseño y la arquitectura. Esa misma tarde la firma andaluza Alvic, dentro de su vinculación

cada vez más intensa al mundo del contract, promueve una jornada temática en torno al diseño y la aplicación de los productos de la firma en los distintos proyectos. Bajo el lema ‘Inspiring ideas’, Alvic establecerá un diálogo entre el arquitecto de origen puertorriqueño Héctor Ruiz Velázquez, el director comercial de Alvic Manuel Pizarro y el director de exportación de esta firma Julián Ramírez. En el ámbito del contract también se va a celebrar el Foro Contract APA/FIPA de Puertas Automáticas, un encuentro especializado en torno a este sector con presencia expositiva en FIMMA – Maderalia 2018 y que abordará en la mañana del martes 6 de febrero diversos aspectos en torno al mantenimiento, seguridad y posicionamiento dentro de los proyectos contract. El valor de la “madera auténtica” Por otro lado, en el marco de FIMMA – Maderalia, la AEIM (Asociación Española del Comercio e Industria de la Madera) presentará un espacio temático denominado Timber Experience / Espacio AEIM y en la que se va a promover de forma global la “madera auténtica” en sus múltiples usos: construcción, arquitectura, estructural, interiorismo o diseño. En este espacio, que estará situada en el Pabellón N3P6 Stand C107, se desarrollarán diversos eventos a lo largo de los cuatro días de feria. Una de las jornadas más interesantes será, sin duda, el monográfico en torno a los nuevos modelos de construcción sostenible con madera que se celebrará el miércoles 8 de febrero y que contará con la presencia de los jóvenes arquitectos Sergio Baragaño y María Sánchez Ontín. Ambos mostrarán de forma práctica proyectos en los que la madera ha tenido un papel protagonista como la innovadora Casa Montaña. También la zona ‘Timber Experience’ será escenario de la presentación del monográfico de la AEIM sobre sobre fachadas de madera, el jueves 8 o la ponencia también ese jueves a cargo de Neil Summers (Asesor técnico de AHEC) sobre la correcta instalación de fachadas, factor esencial para el éxito de los proyectos que se lleven a cabo. Además, en dicha zona se exhibirá la exposición “Too good to waste”, promovida por AHEC (American Hardwood Export Council). Se trata de una instalación

interactiva diseñada por Benedetta Tagliabue de EMBT, elaborada por los ebanistas artesanos de Benchmark en roble americano, arce, cerezo y tulipwood. Esta audaz instalación de madera consta de cuatro piezas individuales y únicas, que, al paso de los visitantes, se van transformando para revelar elegantes piezas de mobiliario ocultas.

El Aula ‘Timber Experience’ de AEIM también será escenario en la mañana del martes 6 de febrero del Curso impartido por PEFC España en torno a la ‘aplicación de los requisitos normativos de EUTR y certificación en la cadena de valor de los bosques’, que contará con la presencia de representantes de la administración nacional y autonómica así como técnicos forestales e ingenieros de montes. La intensa agenda de eventos de FIMMA – Maderalia se complementará con diversas conferencias temáticas organizadas por empresas expositoras. Es el caso de la firma Sugimat, que presentará en el Foro Maderalia en la mañana del miércoles 7 de febrero una ponencia en torno a la ‘aplicación de la visión artificial en plantas térmicas autogestionables’. También en el mismo espacio la multinacional maderera Garnica realizará una conferencia en torno al nuevo contrachapado ignífugo ‘Fireshield’. Del mismo modo, todos los profesionales que visiten FIMMA – Maderalia tendrán acceso al potente programa de conferencias de Cevisama, que en esta edición tiene en su nómina a premios Pritzker como Eduardo Souto de Moura y Rafael Moneo junto a maestros como Francisco Mangado o Emilio Tuñón.

FIMMA MADERALIA BRINGS LEADING INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTS TOGETHER TO TALK ABOUT TIMBER AND THE CONTRACT SECTOR

• Top professionals Shuichi Kobari of Toyo Ito, Héctor Ruiz, Jose María Tomás, Ramón Esteve, Daniel Solves, Juan Blázquez and César Ruiz-Larrea will all be speaking as part of a programme of talks about design, architecture and the new materials available for contract projects.

The use of wood in contract projects as an element that is versatile and sustainable and the search for new materials that are more innovative and have been adapted technologically are the key issues to be addressed in the packed programme of talks being given within the upcoming FIMMA – Maderalia fair, which runs from 6th to 9th February at Feria Valencia. The fair organizers have put together an impressive line-up of world class international specifiers who will be taking part in the various forums and seminars taking place over the four days of the fair. One of the key events is the Sustainable Contract Seminar that is scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday 8th and will be taking place in the Foro Maderalia lecture room (N3P7). At the seminar a group of eminent architecture, design and interior design professionals together with companies including Häfele, Faus, Ica, Emedec, Sonae Arauco and Alvic will be demonstrating how wood is an essential material in sustainable architecture, with its combination of beauty and cost efficiency being a winning argument for it to be used in the growing contract sector. The seminar is being organized by Grupo Vía and speakers include architects José María Tomás, Juan Blázquez, Daniel Muñoz, Daniel Solbes, César Ruiz Larrea, Héctor Ruiz Velázquez and Ramón Esteve. The Valencian architect has in fact put his name to another of the great highlights of this next FIMMA – Maderalia; the ‘Easy Contract’, exhibit for which, in the centre of Pavilion N3P6, Ramón Esteve will be creating different spaces and rooms from an urban hotel in an unique architectural style and using the most innovative materials and processes that can be found in the marketplace right now. A number of exhibitors are collaborating with him on this project, namely Sonae Arauco, Grupo Alvic, Faus, Viters, Bariperfil, Emedec, Puricelli, Thyssen Krupp Plastic Ibérica, Arkos Light and Revert Contract. As well as these architects, there are also other very prominent names from the international arena in the line-up who do not want to miss this next FIMMA – Maderalia, such as Japanese architect Shuichi Kobari, from Pritzker prize-winning Toyo Ito who will be giving a talk on design and architecture on the afternoon of Wednesday 7th February as part of Italian sponsor Olivari’s programme of lectures. On the same afternoon and reflecting its increasingly close ties with the contract world, Andalusian firm Alvic will be heading a workshop themed on design and how the company’s products can be used in different types of project. Sub-titled ‘Inspiring Ideas’, Alvic’s session will be a conversation between Puerto Rican architect Héctor Ruiz Velázquez, Alvic’s sales director Manuel Pizarro and the company’s export director, Julián Ramírez. The main event for the contract sector will be the APA Contract Forum/FIPA Automatic Door Forum, geared specially to the sector, which is also

exhibiting at FIMMA Maderalia 2018. Taking place on the morning of 6th February the sessions will address a range of issues related to contract projects including maintenance, security and positioning. The value of “genuine wood” FIMMA – Maderalia is also the setting for a themed space titled Timber Experience / Espacio AEIM. Presented by AEIM (the Spanish Timber Industry and Trade Association), the space will be used to promote the many different areas in which “genuine wood” can be used: construction, architecture, structures, interior design and design.

The Timber Experience will be in Pavilion N3P6, at Stand C107 and will feature a number of events over the four days of the fair. One of the most interesting, without a doubt, will be the session dedicated exclusively to the new models of sustainable construction using timber, which is on Wednesday 8th February, with speakers including young architects Sergio Baragaño and María Sánchez Ontín. Both will be showing practical examples of projects in which timber played a major role, such as the innovative Casa Montaña. The ‘Timber Experience’ zone is also where the AEIM will be giving its presentation on wooden facades on Thursday 8th and Neil Summers (Technical Consultant at AHEC) will be giving a presentation, also on Thursday, on how to install facades correctly – essential for projects to be completed successfully. The zone also includes the “Too good to waste” exhibition, stage by AHEC (the American Hardwood Export Council). This is an interactive installation designed by Benedetta Tagliabue of EMBT and made by Benchmark’s artisan carpenters out of American oak, maple, cherry and tulipwood. This daring installation in wood comprises four individual, unique pieces that, as visitors walk through, change to reveal elegant pieces of hidden furniture. AEIM’s Timber Experience ‘classroom’ is also where the Course on ‘applying the EUTR required standards’ and ‘certification in the timber value chain’ will be given by PEFC España. Attendants will include representatives of national and regional governments along with forestry experts. The packed programme of events at FIMMA – Maderalia is being complemented by a programme of themed talks given by companies exhibiting. They include Sugimat, which is giving a presentation at the Foro Maderalia on the morning of Wednesday 7th February, on the ‘application of artificial sight in automated thermal plants’. Multi-national timber company Garnica is also giving a talk at the Forum, on the new fire-resistant plywood.
