The Fishing Boats

A Trip to the Sea

It was a hot Summer day in August. “Come on Hattie, hurry up!” Mum

yelled up the stairs. We all piled into the car for the short journey

down to the beach.

I love going to the beach. I imagine I am exploring a tropical island.

I climb over the rocks to the hidden rock pools. All kinds of strange

creatures live there. Sea monsters and mermaids, and of course

there is me! I am the brave captain of the ship, Lazuli.

My brother thinks I am mad. He would rather build sandcastles and

eat ice-creams. That is my brother for you, he is so annoying!

There were lots of people on the beach, some swimming, some lying

in the sun. There were two boys flying kites, trying to see who could

fly the highest. I just wanted to escape to the quiet of my rockpool

world, away from the people and the noise, and of course my brother!

A Trip to the Sea

It was a hot Summer day in August. “Come on Hattie, hurry up!” Mum

yelled up the stairs. We all piled into the car for the short journey

down to the beach.

I love going to the beach. I imagine I am exploring a tropical island.

I climb over the rocks to the hidden rock pools. All kinds of strange

creatures live there. Sea monsters and mermaids, and of course

there is me! I am the brave captain of the ship, Lazuli.

My brother thinks I am mad. He would rather build sandcastles and

eat ice-creams. That is my brother for you, he is so annoying!

There were lots of people on the beach, some swimming, some lying

in the sun. There were two boys flying kites, trying to see who could

fly the highest. I just wanted to escape to the quiet of my rockpool

world, away from the people and the noise, and of course my brother!
