What is the main character like? What problem does he or she have and how does he or she face that problem? Hazel Grace is a fifteen year old girl who has a type of cancer in her lungs that doesn’t allow her to breathe independently. She needs to drag an oxygen tank every where she goes in order to breathe normally. Everyone looks at her weird knowing she has a tube up her nose, but that doesn’t bother her.Hazel faces a problem when she falls in love with Augustus Waters. She believes that if she ever was to get into an intimate relationship with him, she will probably leave him hanging due to her sickness. She faced this problem by thinking she might actually make it and became Augustus’ lover.

QUESTION 1

Page 4: Fidaa Janoudi

What questions does this story leave unanswered? Please explain. At the end of the story, Hazel finds out that Augustus has written a passage for her and she tries to find it. She ends up finding it with their ‘favorite’ author’s former assistant. What we don’t know is why Augustus sent it to the author. He developed an anger and hate towards him after their first encounter. What makes him want to speak to him again?

QUESTION 2

Page 5: Fidaa Janoudi

“I'm in love with you," he said quietly.

"Augustus," I said.

"I am," he said. He was staring at me, and I could see the corners of his eyes crinkling. "I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of

saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is

inevitable, and that we're all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever

have, and I am in love with you.” ― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

A PASSAGE THAT STOOD OUT TO ME

Page 6: Fidaa Janoudi

Honestly, this is one of the best books I have ever read. It is romantic yet not corny. I love the ending even though it made me cry lots. The Fault In our Stars made me think

about thoughts that never cross my mind. Hazel and Augustus made small talk about the most random thoughts,

yet their words were extremely well thought about. The book also made me feel like I am walking through a cancer diagnostic’s shoes. It was an amazing experience to read

this book. This is the perfect book to read on your free time. It kept

me engaged throughout it all even when there were extremely long complicated paragraphs. I would

recommend this book to anyone who likes young adult romance and novels. I am willing to give it to you as well.
