Field Dog Training Seminar

This 1.5 day seminar will give you the tools you need to train your dog for the field and to be successful in field events.

All levels of experience are welcome. Audit spots are open to everyone, working spots are limited to pointing breeds.

Day 1: Training - whoa, come, steady, backing, retrieve (non-force method), water retrieve, introduction to birds,

gunfire, learn about CKC Tests for Pointing Breeds rules and score sheet and how to train your dog for the test levels

(FDJ, FD and FDX).

Day 2 : Handling your dog in the field. Learn how to use the field, learn what judges are looking for (desire, style,

range, pace, pointing), walk with the judge to get first hand observations by the judge. There will be a CKC Test for

Pointing Breeds in conjunction with the seminar.

Event also includes lunch and handouts and birds.

Who should attend this seminar: Anyone with an interest in training their dog for hunting and/or competing in field

events. Seminar will be tailored to participant’s field experience and goals.

Our Instructor : Jack Dafoe

Highly esteemed and experienced CKC judge,

Jack Dafoe will be providing a 1.5 day seminar

on training your dog for hunting and

competition. He has 12+ years experience in

training gun dogs and judging CKC events for

pointing breeds. He has owned and exhibited

Brittany Spaniels for many years and has

worked with all breeds of pointing dogs. Jack

does not believe in using force or punishment

methods.
