actual

as

intriguing

as

the

player

ratings

are

what

ratings

the

worldsgreatestteamshavebeengiven.Inmanywaysratingateam isevenmoredifficultthan

likechangewasinevitableandunderthemanagementofGarciatheclubhavereturnedtotheir

Dutchcouldntmakeupfortheirdefence.IftheWorldCuphasprovenanythingitstoexpectthe

Liverpool,CalumChambers toArsenalandLukeShaw toManchesterUnited.These loseshave

unquestionablydamaged thequalityof Southamptons squadbut theyare stilldeservingof a

higherratinginFIFA15.TheymayhavelostsometalentedplayersbutasitstandsSouthampton

stillhaveplentyofquality,notleastdangerousforwardJayRodriguez.ThelossofShaw,Lovrenand

Chamberswillsurelyhurttheirdefensiveeffortsbuttheyhaveretainedenoughqualityattheback

tojustifymore than a 71defensive rating.Now that the Saints seem to be settledwith new

chairmanRalphKrueger,theywillhopefullyreinvestsomeofthemoneytheyvemadeinthisactive

transferwindowintosomenewstarstostrengthenthesquadandensuretheycanbuildonthe

exceptionaldisplayoflastseason.

underthemasterfulmanagementofTonyPulismanagetoavoidrelegationbuttheydiditwith

pointstospare,finishing in11thplace.TheratingsinFIFA15shouldreflectPalacesstatusasan

established Premier League club no longer the leagueswhipping boys. The 3.5 star rating

currentlyputsPalaceastheequalsofseveralChampionshipclubswhichquiteclearly isnotthe

case.Inthelatterhalfoftheseasontheclubbuiltupareputationasateamnotoriouslyhardto

allplayedvaliantlyindefencewhilegrittydefensivemidfieldersMileJedinakandKagishoDikgacoi

putfearintotheheartsofoppositionforwards.ThedefendingqualitiesofCrystalPalaceprovedto

betheirstrongestquality(despitetheFIFA14rating)whiletheystruggledmoreontheoffensive

end.TheadditionoftheexplosiveFraizerCampbellfromCardiffCityissuretohelptheEaglesgoal

scoringwoes.

ManchesterUnited.Despitenothavingmadeanymajorsignings,Martnezhadthesquadfiringon

all cylinders by utilising the loanmarket. Romelu Lukaku (on loan from Chelsea) finished as

Evertonstopscorerwith16goalsinallcompetitionswhileGarethBarry(onloanfromManchester

City) provided some essential experience inmidfield. Everton have already signedBarry on a

permanentbasisandMartnezhashintedthatadealforLukaku is inthepipeline.Severalnew

Players like Ross Barkley, Josh Stones and JamesMcCarthy (whowas signed fromWigan) all

PinillaandIsla.TheChileansidealwayslookeddangerousandmanyweresadtoseethemexitthe

competitionatarelativelyearlystage.Attimestheiroffensivestyleleftthemopenatthebackbut

ClaudioBravowasalmostalwaysonhandtoprotectthegoal.Indeeditwasthankstotheheroics

oftheChileankeeperthathewassignedbyBarcelonaonafouryeardeal,handpickedtobeVictor

Valdessuccessor.Chiles ratingasajustaboveaverage international teamonFIFA14 isbyno

meansaccurate.TheywereinchesawayfrombeatingBrazilandwhoknowshowtheywouldhave

wouldwinultimatelytheywouldwinnothing.Basedonthisforgettableprecedingseason,why

then should Chelsea receive a higher rating in FIFA 15? The answer is that, in typicalRoman

Abramovichstyle,Chelseahavebeenflashingthecashandhaveaddedsomeexcitingplayersto

theiralready stacked squad. In recent seasons theBlueshad suffered froma lackofoffensive

potencywhichmeantthatmostoftheirgoalscamefrommidfield.However,withthesigningof
