QUARTER ONE

→ 01.01—03.31 2016

Fight the New Drug’s first quarter of 2016

contained some exciting steps forward

for the movement, most notably a trip

to the United Nations and the release

of the Fortify Program app. In addition,

our social media coverage of Utah’s

resolution to declare porn a public health

crisis reached over 1.5 million people on

Facebook. After a strong start to 2016,

FTND continues to be a worldwide leader

in the fight against pornography.

PresentationsOur Quarter 1 presentation tours were highlighted by a trip to the United

Nations in New York City. Our CEO Clay Olsen and Program Director Craig

Bakker addressed hundreds of multinational politicians, leaders, and other

activists on the scientific harms of pornography. Speaking in front of the United

Nations to educate on how pornography is affecting our society was a big

achievement in further establishing Fight the New Drug as a leader in the fight

against pornography. Quarter 1 also included our first presentation in Mexico, a

week long school assembly tour in Kansas, and an address at the Utah Coalition

Against Pornography conference.

SOCIAL REACH

The first quarter of 2016 got off to a slow start for Fight the New Drug’s social

media efforts but finished on a high note. The quarter ended with over 2.1

million visitors to the blog and several posts reaching nearly 1 million people on

Facebook. FTND’s Instagram presence continues to experience rapid growth,

gaining nearly 10,000 followers this quarter. As for new developments, Fight

the New Drug officially launched its presence on Snapchat, a more popular

than ever platform for Millennials. In a short few days, FTND amassed over

1,000 followers to this new channel. Quarter 1 ended with dramatic upswings in

site traffic, reach, and engagement, paving the way for a successful Quarter 2.

Fighters in the NewsFight the New Drug joined Garrett Jonsson on the morning of his final run as he

finished his 30th marathon in 30 days while wearing handcuffs to symbolize the

addictive nature of pornography. He told local news stations, “I don’t consider

myself a runner, I consider myself a person who does hard things. Pornography

addiction is hard and I want to raise awareness on this issue that a lot of people

might be scared to open up about.” Garrett’s focus was to raise awareness in

the community on the harms of pornography and to donate proceeds to

Fight the New Drug.

GARRETT JONSSON

I DON’T CONSIDER MYSELF A RUNNER, I CONSIDER MYSELF A PERSON WHO DOES HARD THINGS. PORNOGRAPHY ADDICTION IS HARD AND I WANT TO RAISE AWARENESS ON THIS ISSUE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE MIGHT BE SCARED TO OPEN UP ABOUT.

Headquarters

Meet Keri

Fight the New Drug witnessed a huge milestone this past quarter as we finally moved into our

brand new office space! Our modern and minimal workspace is a symbol of how much this

movement has grown. With increases in staff and a demand for more resources for our ever-

growing following, this new space is allowing us to better conduct this worldwide movement.

Keri is the new Social Media Manager for Fight the New Drug. As the social

media mouthpiece for the organization, she goes through daily interactions

and keeps Fighters up to date with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. A

recent December 2015 grad of Biola University in Los Angeles, CA, she

studied journalism and integrated media. Also a political science minor,

she studied at the Washington D.C. Journalism Center and worked for PBS

Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly. She also worked as a College Associate

for Fox News Channel at the Los Angeles Bureau, acting as a production

assistant before earning her degree. Keri has followed FTND for the last few

years, and is excited to now be a part of the movement!
