How to Punch Filigree Designs

Step 1: Scribe a light center guideline using straight edge and stylus end of modeling tool.

Step 2: Begin about 3/8” from snap. Punch row of diamond shapes down guideline 1/8” apart.

Tip: Keep the punched-out shapes for future use.

Step 3: Punch heart shapes.

Step 4: Add wing shape punches.

Step 5: Whether you add color or leave leather natural, always apply a protective leather finish.

Allow leather to dry completely before applying the finish.

Optional: Your can leave the leather natural and just add a protective leather finish or add color.

Other Punching Ideas:

Scribe more light guidelines if needed to help keep your designs straight.

For different effect, partially punch a shape (diamond shown above) and add alphabet stamp.

Add other punch shapes (such as round punch shown here).

Other Decorating Ideas:Heart shapes are just partially punched, then colored with acrylic paint & crystal rivets added.

Add a leather liner behind the punched design. Adhere with leathercraft cement.

1) Apply leathercraft ce-ment to back of wristband.

2) Adhere liner to wristband. Let dry.

3) Trim liner. (Optional: color liner back to match wristband back.)

Add leather punch out shapes and other leather shapes as appliques.

Heart shapes colored with silver acrylic paint before adhered to pre-dyed wristband.

Adhere applique shapes with leathercraft cement and place with tweezers.
